No, it is a Model 37. The caliber is probably 9mm Kurtz (.380 ACP) Here is a 37mm though:

No, I don't think I'll ever get over Macho Grande.

          You mean flare launcher.

          There is a difference.

              It's Hungarian WW2 era.
They were made in .380ACP and was the standard issue service pistol for the Hungarian army during the late-30s through mid-40s.
It appears to be a non-Nazi contract pistol (those were marked P37 & had a thumb safety).

It's looks like it's in really good condition.

              Estimated serial number ranges:
              1938 00001-20000
              1939 20001-60000
              1940 60001-100000
              1941 100001-150000
              1942 150001-180000
              1943 180001-210000
              1944 210001-232800

Need better pictures to determine if it was.

Also it has a safety feature in which you have to squeeze the rear of the grip in order for it to fire!

edited my above post with more info.

auctions sites show price range between $350-700 depending on condition.

That info is sooo cool! Thanks.

It looks like it is of the 1943 year. Thanks I think my friend will be very excited.

Do you have a rough idea how much a gun smith would charge to clean something like this up? It seems like the return spring for the slide is not working. Other than that AND the VERY HEAVY trigger pull..this is a nice little gun.
