I have had my 380 SA for almost two years and am still working out kinks...
Have yet to run a full mag with out an issue...
But I really like the size and feel...oh this...
It's a Single Cylinder - Single Stroke,
Internal Combustion Engine,
with a Free Floating Piston...

well ima still looking for a nice backpacking pocket piece. my first choice was the beretta m21a since it was tiny, i though the amt 45cal backup was a nice choice.Comment

well the amt comes in 38 super. and i think that would be a better woods round than a 45.Comment

the .380 is the best AMT Backup, the .45 was the worst.
the mainspring of the .45 is used to assist the recoil spring in keeping the slide "locked/closed" when a shot was fired. the trigger pull was horrendous and couldn't be lighten because it threw off the timing of the action...because the journey is the worthier part...The Shepherd's TaleComment

Have had 2 OMC for years (early version) .380
One has seen a lot of use and never had a failure...
The other is still new in the box.
OMC was the first company that made them, since than there have been a few new owners I think and they started calling them AMT.Comment

I have one in .45. From new it had a issue where pulling the slide back to chamber the first round would hang the slide up about 1/4 inch from being into battery. After that the rest of the mag fired fine. I polished the slide rails and the other moving parts and it helped some.
Wolff finally came out with a slightly stronger recoil spring and that cured the 1st round problem.
Yes the trigger is terrible being about 15 pounds and they don't have sights other than a groove machined along the center of the slide.
The are big and boxy feeling but it is still small for a .45. I don't shoot it much but it is now reliable.Comment

Just bought one a few months ago. I took it out once, and it's absolutely jamalicious. I couldn't get through a single mag without having to smack the slide forward with my palm to chamber the round at least once (usually more than once).
Before I took it out, the slide was moving like butter. After a mag or two, it was sticking and making unsettling metal-on-metal scratching sounds. It seemed like something got bent or at least out of alignment.
I drenched it in lube and screwed around with the guide rod and eventually it stopped, but I don't think it will last through another mag without it doing it again.
Long story short, if you see me selling a .380 SA AMT Backup in the classifieds, don't buy it.
