An Army buddy owned a Python and it was one of the most accurate and finest handguns I have ever had the pleasure of shooting.

          Schwing! OP delivers.

To shoot, or not? Interesting opinions from the thread's contributors. If I had one, I'd shoot it, but I'm not a collector. I certainly believe in preserving pieces of history, but I can't think of many firearms with historical value that I wouldn't enjoy just as much with a few rounds through them.

I totally agree it needs to be put in something other than the plastic box it has remained in the last 20 years. The plastic box has put a few light scratches in the blue near the incuse Colt lofo - not serious, and polishable, but I want to insure the preservation of the condition of the Python.

Newbie ignorance...what is a "bore store" and where do I get one? Which brand/type do you reccomend? I assume the bore store is better than a cloth?

If you read my other thread, the gun actually belongs to my Wife. It was the first birthday present I ever bought her. It is unfired since we had a family tragedy involving a family firearm (not one of mine) shortly after she got the gun, so it was put on wraps as we stopped shooting after that. She does not want to shoot it both as a collectors item, and also for sentimental reasons. We can afford another Python, but the only one on the acceptable CA gun list is the 6" stainless. Can I legally buy one in blue? I am a blue lover!
