.40 caliber semi handgun

I've been looking at .40 handguns, and welcome any advice or opinions. I haven't purchased a semi handgun in nearly 20 years. I am leaning towards the baretta, but the Glock seems decent as well.

I like Glocks and 1911s. I know, that's strange. I also own Sigs and HKs. But the glock is my favorite in a no frills pistol. Although the XD tactical in 40 cal is kind of sweet. Check it out if you can before making a decision. In my opinion, it's a cross between a Glock and a 1911, sort of. I've shot them and their shooters.

I would trust my life to any of these but the Kahr

I would take a sig or the Kahr, but shy away from the rest.

My recommendation is to go to a range that rents guns and try a few and see what works best for you.

Unless you're locked in on .40, would look at a 9mm or .45acp first - both have much better felt recoil to me than the .40 which feels very "sharp/snappy." I prefer the CZ-75B, Springfield Armory XD, or Sig Sauer vs. Glocks based on ergonomics. Good luck, and get to a range with many rentals available so you can shoot multiple options before deciding!

I have Sig P229, which I have carried...

Go with what best fits your hand...Also you need to figure out your intended use...

You might consider the Glock model 22 (.40 S/W) RTF (rough texture frame). The rough texture gives a positive grip. Try one out and see what ya think.
