Questions: H&K 4

All,

I own a H&K 4 in .32 ACP that I bought many moons ago. I want to sell it, but I am sure that I will need some sort of lock. Now all of the other handguns I sold have been in locking cases, but this one does not ( it rides "shotgun" in one of my other guns locking case when we go out ) . So what do I need , and where do I get one cheap, so I can sell it legally?

Second.... what is it worth. I have found very little info on it. Its a shooter and not a collector piece, and has some eastern European police-ish markings on it ( one says BRUNO ). I fairly certian its not worth that much, but I have no clue where to start.

Most dealers where you would do the PPT paperwork will have locks for sale.

Do you have any conversion parts.HK4 could be converted to shoot 2 or more different calibers.Thats where the money is at!

You only need a locked case to transport to the dealer to sell, the buyer will be responsible for his lock and case after the transfer.

Thanks, I kinda figured about the locks, what do they run?

And no, I do not have any of the conversion kits. If I had the .22 kit I would not be selling it.

Its a fun little gun, but I am moving in a different direction.

I don't think it will fetch top dollar . I think what I decide will be more than fair. I will post it in the for sale section soon.

About $400 sounds about right in CA
You can sell it in CA with a Person to Person transfer (through a dealer)
You can also buy the additional calibers / parts for the gun from anywhere, You don't have to get them from CA. CADOJ only regulates the complete gun with frame.
There are 4 cal. (thus the name - HK 4 - 4 calibers) .22, .25, .32, and .380 (9mm Kurz) The early version of the .22 also requires a different extractor, which is usually provided with the barrel. The later version came with a universal extractor. The other 3 cal. only require a barrel change, which is as easy as a strip to clean, just drop in which ever barrel you want. and of course each needs the right size magazines for that size ammo.

Tip: check the little buffer pad, they are made of plastic and can crack after time and use. They are available cheap (less than $4.oo) new.

for a lock, you can get a generic locking case for under $10 just about anywhere and a lock at the dollar store for a dollar. Or you can even get an HK case (though not the original for the HK 4 which came in a box) from CDNN for $7 http://www.cdnninvestments.com/hkcanewfa.html
One last thought, for those of us who love HK and live in CA where it is hard to find HK4's Please make this available in CA for a P2P transfer. There will be a very happy CA HK lover who will be glad you did.

Thanks for all of the info. I was aware of all of the calibur kits ( there is a .22 barrel for sale on Gunbroker now ) , but the owners manual is something I never had and I thank you for that.

Do not worry, its not going anywhere but to a Cali owner. I should have an ad. this week, I am waiting for a time to take some decent photos.
