    RIA Range Report

I recently visited the range to shoot my Glock 19. I was always curious about the 1911's and they had a RIA rental. Well, decided to give it a test drive and see what all the hype was about. I have to say, I was a bit skeptical about a pistol made in the Phillipines. After 50 rounds through the pipe of this RENTAL with RANGE RELOADS, I am throughly impressed. Keep in mind, this is the first time I've ever fired a 1911. I posted a picture of my target. This has got to be one of the best groupings I've ever accomplished.

Soooo....I went out and bought a Kimber Custom II. =)

I haven't been to the range all that much with the Kimber. The first trip out, I was discouraged, because the groupings with the Rock Island were much better. I guess I just have to break it in and get accustomed to it.

Nice gun and congrats! Welcome to the 1911 madness.

Were there any failures with your Kimber? If so, what were they?

I had two failures with the Kimber. I am going to blame it on the mag. The factory mag that it came with, a Kim Pro Tac Mag and a Pro Mag 10 rd mag did not have any failures. I also bought two cheap mags at the Cow Palance show, not sure of the brand, but they came in in this plastic packaging with some yellow background. Anyway, both failures were while I was using that mag. The RIA rental had no failures at all. I imagine that pistol to be pretty dirty too.

Nice! 1911's are great. You'll be buying more for sure.

If you're in the bay area, its Jackson Arms in South San Francisco.

I have an RIA Tactical in jail right now. I haven't shot a 1911 in probably 30 years and can't remember the experience as being anything to write home about. But, I keep reading the hype about 1911's here so I figured I'd try one again. For the price of the RIA, I figured I couldn't go wrong.

                            Re: RIA Range Report

Gotta say I love my RIA tactical, would not hesitate to let anybody try it, and dollar for dollar I think it's the best 1911. Sure, there are better 1911's but not at that price.
