    Sig Question

I've been looking at Sigs for a while and am ready to make a purchase sometime soon. My question is which sig model has the most versatile configuration choices? I would like a model that could shoot multiple calibers from the same frame or at least accept a .22lr conversion kit. Any help from my fellow Calgunners would be much appreciated. Thanks!!!

I'd get the P226. My wife has one and she loves it. So do I. I bought the Sig factory 22LR conversion kit. It's fantastic practice and saves big $.

Agreed. When talking about Sigs, the 226 is "The" Sig. The 220 is probably up there too in terms of versatility but the 226 is #1.

            Sigs

You could get a sig p226r 40. With this one u could fey a 357 sig barrel conversion u can also get a 9mm caliber xchange kit where u get a complete slide and barrel and I think one mag. U can also get a 22lr conversion.there's a lot of possibilities but I'd get it in 40 to be able to do all those conversions I love my sigs

              P226!
Top one is 357sig with 9mm conversion barrel
and bottom one has 22lr conversion kit
              I also have the 40 s&w barrel

              Start with a 357 or 40 platform

What is the difference between the 226 and 226r? Thanks for all the feedback.

The "r" is for the rail
Look directly in front of the trigger guard on the top pic. A rail for a light or laser

The 226 is just the number of the platform, the 226R is the base model that with fixed sights and rail. There are other variants like the Equinox, Navy, Blackhawk, etc.. that have different finishes, sights and triggers. So a 226R is a 226, but not all 226s are 226R's get it?

p226r or a p229r if you are planning on concealed carry.
the p229 is just a little bit more compact.

As many have already said already, P226. Its what I own. If you want the biggest potential of calibers, get it in .40sw. You can easily get a drop in for .357sig, and an aftermarket 9mm, plus the .22lr conversion kit.

Honestly though... I think having all those choices of calibers is overstated. To have all those available, it would cost a lot. I would just go with what you shoot best and can do affordably and stick with that. I personally do own the .40sw and purchased a .22lr conversion kit for cheaper shooting. My logic at the time was I wanted to get a 226 with as much "firepower" that is regularly legal in CA while still being somewhat affordable. If I can do it over.. I probably would have just gotten a 9mm because its still cheaper than shooting .40sw and can be just as effective. No matter how cheap .22lr is, its still not the same as shooting your actual caliber. On top of that, I can also buy mag rebuild kits in case I ever do move out of CA or if all hell breaks loose.

                          Don't forget the 229: 9mm, 40, 357Sig and 22 conversion also.
