Quick Glock mag extension question

I got some extra round mag extensions for some pre ban hi-caps but the little plate that goes under the original base plates don't fit. The little tab that pops through the base plate does not line up with the hole one the extended bases. Am I supposed to assemble them without the original insert?

care to expound? Well when I take it apart it snags the spring as there is no practical way to compress the spring.

it needs a special one that has a long finger in the front

you will know it when you see it cause it looks like a little chair for a legoman

the older ones that dont have a release hole on the bottom do not use a locking plate

mag extensions come with 2 peices. one is the plate, the other is triangle lego chair as stated above.
