Which ammunition will cycle a 44mag Desert Eagle?

This is the stuff I know works:
    • Hornady 240 XTP
    • Gold Dot 270 SP
    • Remington 240 SJHP
    • Winchester 240 SP

This is stuff I know does NOT work:
    • Blazer 240 JHP
    • PMC Bronze 240

Any other rounds you guys really like? Anything I should stay away from?

    Thanks

I used the Hornady XTP 180gr and that round has some force to it, real loud. Also the Leverevolution stuff works but sometimes it gets hung up on the ballistic tip and won't feed the next round. I've had good luck with the Magtech solid coppers but they're a bit spendy. I've had awful runs with any standard .44 mag factory loads and mine does not like 240gr rounds of any kind, even the premium stuff. Hope that helps some.

Good to know. I just picked one up and was wondering myself.

Interesting, so you find the lighter weight bullets cycle better?

I will try a box of the Hornady 180s

Yeah, for some reason mine does not like anything heavier than a 200gr. Make sure other people aren't too close, that round is fairly loud.

              Thanks, I purchased a 20 round box of the 180 Hornady's yesterday.
              Hoping these work!

I've used different name-brand 240gr (Win or Rem) either soft point or hollow, as well as Miwall 240gr "+P+" they call it. Hope to reload some day so I can start shooting again. 44 ammo is costly...

PMC 44D feeds in mine everytime.
I also make a HP round that works great.

The only factory 44Mag ammo I've ever used in my Desert Eagle is Fiochi 240gr JSP (jacketed soft point).

Fiochi gives it a model number of 44A.

I bought two cases (2000 rounds) of this stuff when I first bought my Desert Eagle. This stuff works great.

You gotta start reloading if you plan to shoot much 44Mag though. It's expensive and for the Desert Eagle you really want the full power loads anyhow.
