Well, I went to the range this afternoon to test out my new CZ-75B in .40 S&W. I figured I might as well take a few other pistols. The CZ was a kick in the pants. Very accurate right out of the box using the Winchester white box 180 gr. FMJ's. No problems except one FTE in the first box. An excellent opportunity to practice a malf. drill. The gun is still very tight. I figure after I get through the first case of ammo. it should be good to go. Me likey, now I want one in 9mm.
Next up was my Kimber Custom II. Everything was going well until suddenly I was grouping shots approx. 4" off to the left of POA. I'm looking at the ammo and my grip. I was thinking maybe I had developed a hitch in my form. I finished the mag. and watched as the last three shots got progressively further from the POA. Now I knew that something was wrong. I checked the gun over and found that the hex head stake in the rear sight had worked itself loose. The rear sight had moved to the left, just short of exiting the dovetail. I was so glad that it wasn't me that I didn't get upset.
I've been looking at getting some night sights put on this gun, now I have a good excuse.
I figured that this was a good time to practice point shooting since you never know when your sights might take a walk on you.
Last was the Sig 2009 blueline in 9mm. I just enjoy the heck out of this one. She's cheap to feed, likes everything, and is a dream to clean.
Total rounds fired:
CZ= 100 rounds. bought at the range.
Kimber=100 rounds. I had to stop, was afraid the rear sight might go flying off into the distance.
Sig= 200 rounds of fun.
I usually go early on Saturdays but, I got hung up yesterday. I wound up at the range about 3:00 P.M. today. It was packed to capacity. To say there were a lot of good looking women on the line today would be an understatement. Sure, some were with a boyfriend but, most were flying solo. I asked a friend behind the counter if there was a class going on and he said no. He had also noticed the unusual number of hot females shooting. Before you ask, no I didn't bring the camera. Yes, I've been kicking myself for that oversight all evening. All in all, it was a weird but, good day at the range.
