I think you should stop giving your cousin ammo that you bought at a gun show.
    It's not PTSD, it's nostalgia.

Never shoot someone else's reloads. Your asking for this to happen or worse when you do.

I had to send my Baby Eagle back to Magnum Research when I broke the extractor using steel-case Wolf .40S&W. I learned my lesson about cheap ammo. The lesson for you is to slow down at the range (tough, I know) and keep your eyes on the ammo you are loading into your mags, especially reloads. It only takes a second for a reloader to get distracted and double-charge or no-charge a case or miss a bad casing. I've heard of a bag of reloads that contained one round in the wrong caliber.

          I agree fully.

Just be glad you have a well made gun and nothing worse happened.

Next time I should only buy from a creatable brand like the Remington factory reloads?

Buy 5 or so boxes of competing FACTORY ammunition in the caliber you shoot, that are in a price range that is comfortable for you. Go shoot them and see which one cycles best, shoots most consistantly and to point of aim, feed in mags best, had tolerable recoil, whatever makes you gun shoot the best. Then buy that stuff.

OR you can reload your OWN ammo. That way you have control over how much powder is used, how many times the cases have been fired, what primers or bullets are used, and other factors that affect safety and reliability.

I'd say that after your initial investment into a proper reloading setup, and once you find a good round and go into full production, you can probably reload ammo that works great for you at as good a price as any junk can be had.

Remember you probably bought reloads because they were cheap, right? We'll the dude who reloaded them sold them to you at a price marked up from his cost plus time so he can make money, if that gives you any idea how much crappy reloads cost if you roll your own.

Eh, I've never had any problem with the reloads from Ammobros. On the other hand, I've had plenty of issues from Miwall's reloads.

Don't bash all reloads - if you go for the very bargain basement stuff, you're going to get crap. Ammobros, on the other hand, isn't the bottom bidder but they're considerably cheaper than factory ammo.

I guess it's hit / miss. Once I bought an ammo can of 9mm gunshow reloads - worked fine!! Then tried some Load-X at a local range, and had a squib - you know, where the bullet got lodged in the barrel. Hammered it out and continued to shoot, but that's the last time I ever bought Load-X.

I trust the LAX range reloads. I mean... they go through thousands of reloads a day, but it'd be the same price if you bought a case of ammo in bulk.

So is it the ejector or extractor that broke?

It was the extractor that broke, it popped out I have found out that if we fix it our selfs then it will be about 20 bucks.

I had a Sig P-229 break extractors twice while using Wolf ammo...

I sopped using Wolf and haven't had a problem since. I think the Sig extractors may be a little brittle. It could have been a run of bad extractors too... (too hard or too soft)

I haven't had a problem in many years now, so I can't complain...

I save lots of money shooting reloads...Mine. I refuse to use another person's reloads, or give/sell my reloads to another. I shoot a lot- enough to pay for the whole reloading outfit in less than two years, including an XL650 and dies for about 12 different calibers and two single stages presses and 2 digital scales, tumbler-all kinds of stuff (I am a tool freak). It's been gravy ever since. If you shoot enough to really feel it in the wallet, reload. Save money. Shoot more.
