Same M&P9 two different prices.

was in a local shop today looking at the M&Ps. There are two M&P9's one price 599 the other 449. I asked the guy behind the counter and he had no idea why that was. he did say he overheard another employee talking maybe had something to do with a CA compliant gun vs a Michagan Compliant but thats all he had. I DO Live in CA. the employee had no way to differentiate them so that I can research different model numbers or anything. any ideas?

They are brand new thats for sure. different genearations make difference they both looked like the same gen though.

Could be the sights that are different or one may have a thumbsafety and the other may not. These are just guesses but when I was looking I noticed the same thing until I looked at the guns a little closer.

$449 for a new M&P is a good price. That price difference makes me think possibly pre owned but unfired, or same gun with and without night sights at a discounter.

I guess there may be no other explaination other than they priced one wrong.

The difference is the thumb safety. They have ones with n ones without. I prefer without.

well with out providing pictures we cant really say for sure. evrything is going to be speculation.

I don't know if S&W offers the M&Ps with different accessory packages like Springfield does with the XDs, but maybe one of them simply comes with more stuff than the other; if the store is displaying just the gun, they might not realize the difference until they went into the back to get the box and what not. I doubt that different accessories would justify the price gap, though.

Just buy the cheaper one.

If you are not looking to buy, then ask someone at the shop that knows something.
Was one marked "LEO only"?
