I believe they might limit purchases to LE only...I believe the Sig 226s they were selling had High Caps...
I looked on the their website...It no longer shows Sigs, S&W, and Beretta...I wonder what happened?

I bought a Glock at LC last April
GSSF had sent me a discount certificate that was only redeemable at LC.

LE trade-ins are not predictable due to department budgets, expected length of life on their service pistols, and the economy.

        It's really a hit-or-miss thing.

Unless your LEO or know somebody you won't get a gun from LC Action.
They'll sell you body armor, ammo, and darn near anything else but no badge, no gun.

They had like 50ish P226 and P228s last time I was in there, as a non-LEO I was able to get one of each. They just knocked off 25 bucks and kept the High-Caps. It was $375+tax+DROS for each. The top 5-10% were worth buying (in my opinion). Most were cosmetically in pretty poor shape (the way they stored them and how people rifled through them wasn't helpful, just piles of pistols and few dividers), mechanically, the rails and interior finish were great.

BTW, most of their office people aren't the most helpful, they were disorganized and their knowledge of the paperwork requirements for purchasing a pistol was "misguided" at the very least.

Overall, I'd only buy from them because the used Sig prices were so cheap. But I wouldn't support them otherwise.

interesting to read your experience. I have quite the opposite view (as do all my LE partners). we always go here to pick up stuff, whether it be an off duty pistol, or something small like an ear piece. they've been everything and more for us.

Maybe being LE is the difference that makes their customer service worth while. just my opinion.

i also had a very positive experience dealing with LC Action. i went down with a friend to pick out his 226 and they let him go through every one they had...try that at a "regular" gun store.

it was funny to see them wheel out a handcart with a rubbermaid tub full of 226s. i never pay attention to the exterior finish on used/LE trade-in guns, it has been my experience that they are a great value as shooters...if appearance bothers you, a quick bead blast and blue isn't that expensive.

I've found LC Action to be very accommodating -- both over email and in-person. I would buy from them again.

Okay, well apparently most people disagree with my experience that I had and that's perfectly fine. I was there in approximately Oct 09 to Feb 10 I believe, I can't recall completely. I can tell you only my specific experiences and what turned me off.

                        1) I brought my San Jose City Water Bill, Driver's License, San Jose City Trash bill for my proof of residency (within the 90 day time limit). I only need 1 of those municipal bills for the DROS. For the first pistol, this was just fine. 30 days later, I bring back the same documentation (which is still valid) and a different woman tells me that I need to bring in something else to show proof of residency. I had to go home and get my Santa Clara Property Tax form as she wouldn't accept my Car Registration, San Jose City Trash and San Jose City Water (they were all still valid for the 90 day time limit). This is where I believe their understanding of the residency requirements and paperwork were "misguided".

                        2) When I called them about the pistols it was $399.99 with a swapped 10 round magazine. When I showed up, it was $399.99 with no magazines. Which is what I paid. When I got back here (CalGuns), I found out that it was supposed to be $375 with no magazines. I had to request for the $25x2 dollars back, which they refunded without the taxes I paid which they should have. That's just being lazy, they were nice over the phone, nice during the purchase, nice during the return of the money, but in the end, they still did most of it wrong. This is where I believe them to be inconsistent, lazy, and not particularly detail oriented.

                        3) They screwed up filling my DROS form the 2nd time I went in for my 2nd pistol. I informed them of the mistake and they said they would fix it. When I came back to pick it up, I got a printout of my DROS form, still messed up. This is where I find them inconsistent, not detail oriented, and sloppy.

                        4) They took about 45 mins to an hour to find my pistol and give it back to me after my 10 day wait period, both times. A person would go back into the store room and then I hung out for 30 mins while nothing happened, the 2nd time they came out and told me that were having trouble finding it. I'm okay with this as it is fairly typical of Gun Store service, but I can't say that I think this is an efficient way to run a business. I was there with a grand total of 5-6 people in the store at 2PM on a Friday. There were 4 clerks in the store. This is where I found it slightly frustrating because they were disorganized.

                        5) Boxload of P226s and P228s were thrown in a huge box with 3 people standing over them and dumping them back in, in whichever way they wanted. 2 things bothered me about this. 1) They were getting dinged just being handled, and 2) there was terrible muzzle control there, the guns were all slide forward, no locks and all pointing in different directions. Seriously needs to have and employee watch as strangers handle guns. We were also just standing around around a 3 cardboard boxes which was just uncomfortable. It was like Jackals feeding on Sig Sauer carcasses. =) While I do appreciate the rubbermaid (my case were cardboard packing boxes) and being allowed to look through them all, it wasn't the best gun safety fundamentals or well organized.

                        6) Guy standing next to men showed me a HK P7 that one of the women had scratched (they were light marks, but not something that could come off with some rubbing) with the big rings she had on when racking the slide. He had just had the gun transferred from out of state as a private purchase. He was coming back to pick up after the 10 day wait, he said that it wasn't there when he came the first time to DROS the firearm. I felt sorry for him. Seems like sloppy care of others' property.

Like I said, this was based on 6 trips to the store. Inspection, Inspection and purchase, Inspection with a friend who was considering buying a Sig, Pick-up, After 30 day wait DROS, Pick-Up.

For the LEOs that were there, they seemed to get great service. Many of the nits above are things that I'll put up with from a "Gun" store, they kind of have that type of service. My post was to say that I believe that a store that isn't used to servicing non-LEOs didn't do a good job with me.
