What do you do on a range trip?

Do you practice something specific? Just to relax a bit?

none of the above. I don't worry about anybody else. Then again, I typically shoot by myself in my backyard. I try to shoot accurately at my target. Sometimes I try to decrease follow up time and still hit the big circle, sometimes I just try to dump the mag with all shots on the paper, sometimes I reset the hammer for DA shots. Different things for different techniques. I like hearing it go boom as much as possible!

When returning unused targets at the local indoor ranges... Of course the staff comments on us missing the target and my usual complain is that the targets were tooo small.

Shoot for relaxation and to spend time with fam and friends.....also to become familiar with a weapons function and "quirks" if it has any....I give the leftover targets to the least experienced shooters I see when I leave...

Like any practice to train a fine motor skill you have to have something of a plan for how to practice. Otherwise you are just blowing off ammo.

It's also dependent on what it is you are practicing to do. Practice for bullseye target competition is going to be way different than practice for three gun or HD.

I go with a specific plan and strive for the best accuracy I can achieve within the parameters I've set for myself.

I usually go to practice and relax. Also, since I usually bring my madre, it's a great chance to be home and with family. Plus she gets to shoot without being overly nervous about going to the range by herself.

I nromally buy a lot of targets and return the ones I don't use. Indoor ranges generally seems happier when you to use their targets.

I'll shoot for accuracy and practice on the rifle range until my eyes get tired, then I'll swap over to the pistol range and shoot for accuracy and practice until my eyes are really tired, and then I'll pull out the rimfires and just plink till I'm all done. It used to take all day, now I'm ususally done by noon. My wife says that's because I'm getting old, but I think it's because the days are getting longer.

Since I finished my AR I've been working on shooting standing w/iron sights at the 100 yard, before that with my handguns I'd just shoot for accuracy. I leave most of my drills/drawing for home with dry firing.

I practice the basics of good marksmanship; breathing, trigger control, sight picture, stance, and follow through. Then I usually plink a steel targets (22lr) for the other half of my range trips.

I just try to keep getting better-n-better. My usual range does not allow draw-from-holster or any kind of rapid-fire (1 per second rule), so I usually start from "count 2" and use a timer to add some very minor stress. I tend to try to get 10 rounds off in 9 seconds (sorta pushing the rules, but no complaints or dirty looks from the range master yet) and try to put them all in the middle at 10 yards, and now more-n-more at 25. I imagine I'll eventually move out further, but that's a bit of a stretch, and don't know if my eyes will support that!

I wear different shooter's caps, (Ruger SR9, FrontSight, Thunder Ranch, Glock ... whatever) and from time-to-time someone will make some pissy comment. This is were I have fun by moving next to them on the range. The best comeback is ragged holes on the target right next to their target.) If I have a "bad day", I just say I moved next to them to maybe learn something, which I do on occasion.
