Glock Double Tap

Haven't had a chance to try a double tap with my Glock, I have been told the trigger travel precludes this from being practical.
Anyone here able to reliably double tap with a Glock? If so any trigger mods or is it standard?

Double tap = less than a 1/8 second between shots.

Double tap = two shots on target in rapid succession. Never heard the 1/8 second rule. Glocks can shoot pretty rapidly though, maybe not as fast as a tuned 1911 trigger, but faster than the avg person can keep it on target.

As for trigger, a 3.5 lb disconnector helps, or you could send it to JS custom and they can get the trigger down to 2 lbs or so, but that would only be best for a competition gun.

I heard you can lighty hold the glock (somewhat) and let the recoil shoot again. Saw a video, tried to find it, but couldnt. It fires like a full auto.

Probably not reliable though.

One of the tricks to shooting a Glock quickly is to learn to release the trigger only as far as it takes to reset the trigger, then pull again. Pull the trigger and hold it back until the pistol settles, then slowly let it out until you hear/feel the trigger reset. The trigger at this point is much shorter and cleaner than releasing the trigger completely between shots. Practice this until you do it without thinking. Most shooters in competition or combat trained scenarios practice this technique.

I feel like you can be smoother on the trigger once you get used to the reset but I dunno the shooter in the video could be a pro shooter.

I double, triple and unload a whole 33 rounder whenever I'm at the range.

The 1911 is a bit easier to double tap than a factory Glock. Glocks have a much more positive reset which is why I perfer them in IDPA or USPSA. With a 3.5lb. connector in my G34 it is a much easier gun to shoot fast than a 1911 with a light load. I am thinking it is because the Glock grip gives me more girth to hold on to.

Where did you get the idea that a double tap had to be 1/8 of a second? That comes out to about .12 of a second between shots.

Not impossible but thats very, very, VERY fast. Get a timer and try and reproduce a .12 split, you'll see that it's very hard to do so accurately. Mag dumping while fun, is pretty useless when it comes to actually using the gun for anything that requires accuracy.

In actuality, one of the benefits of having a glock is that it has such a great trigger for this time of thing. The trigger travel is irrelevant on the first shot- it's the distance the trigger travels during the reset that has the biggest effect. Glocks have some of the shortest resets out there. The reset is shorter than Sigs, XD, HK's, arguably the M&P's and CZ's before modification. I've owned or have fired each of these guns and it's easy to tell the difference.

Whoever told you this bit of information doesnt really understand the glock trigger and how to reset it.

I will also say that some of the BEST shooters in the WHOLE country do not shoot faster than .12 splits. I'm talking aimed fire and not mindless mag dumps. People tend to get caught up in the idea that it's somehow always better to be faster with the trigger than to be more accurate...

Yeah few people who own a Glock actually know about this. I have a buddy who's main gun is a G19 for the last 10 years and did not know about that.

I have to agree with everybody that says the Glock trigger resets are great. That's part of the reason I got a Glock over the XD and M&P pistols.
