    Hate to say this...
    no...
    feel bad about saying this...
    no...not right...
feel smug and amused by saying this...
    yes...

as much as someone will pay for it....

The value will depend upon factors... like how rare it is in the particular area where you want to sell it...
just sold a FN 5.7 and a DW 44 last week...here.. for way more than I coulda got somewhere else... cause you can't get the DW here... so there... might be different than here...or whatever...

try taking it by a local gunshop and seeing what they think it should go on consignment for... and then compare that with what the more learned folks on this forum suggest... try gunbroker...but calif. prices can be different for "non lock" guns and guns not on the roster etc...
    nice gun...wish I hadn't just bought a couple...

Yes, i know!! It says 70,xxx!! Just wondering if because it says markas registradas it has a different place for the serial. It just says K under the grips with nothing else.

This actually looks suspiciously familiar to me... like I one I sold 20 years ago or so. Appears to be a reasonably well used Model 19 2.5 inch with Pachmayr Compac grips, which are not my favorite for that gun. Factory grips would be much better, IMO. The one I sold had Compacs.

** Barrel appears to be pinned from the photo which would make it a -4 or earlier.
** The trigger stop looks to still be present so that would also be indicative of -4 or earlier.
** Trigger is at least semi-target, hammer is standard which is not a combination I would normally expect to find so perhaps it was ordered that way or the trigger was changed out at some point.

Below the serial number inside the crane should be a model number expressed "Model xx-x". That would help narrow it down. The full serial number will also be stamped on the underside of the grip frame and should have a letter in it someplace. Need to take the grips off to see it.

Pinned barrel guns, which also have recessed chambers, tend to bring a bit of a premium, especially from snobs like me who prefer them. I am guessing there is no box or original grips with this which brings the price down a bit.

From the amount holster wear that's visible it is a very well used gun. Perhaps a LEO gun at some point, and LEO provenance would be a plus to me. Without further hands on inspection it's hard to gauge a real value but I just landed a Model 19-4 2.5 inch nickle in much better overall condition than this for right around $500.

                Where is this located?

Sorry about the pic (camera phone) but there is NO wear at all on this pistol. This pistol is as black and shiny as a new bowling ball. I inspected under the grip and there is no serial number at all. Just the "K" I am on the san fran peninsula

I have a 19-4 with a serial 80KXXXX with paperwork from 10-78 if this helps.
The way some gunshop clerks spout off, you'd think that they invented gunpowder and the repeating rifle, and sat on the Supreme Court as well.

Just trying to put a reasonable value on it for insurance purposes. I dont want to over estimate and have the premium go up or underestimate and not get what its worth if i were to lose it. thanks

Nice! Model 19-something. R.B., 2 1/2", P&R as mentioned above so it's a dash 4 or earlier. Non original goodyear grips. In great condition. No box, no paperwork, no tools. $550-$600 unless you find someone that wants it bad in crazy California .HTH c good

desireable for folks wanting a small 6-shot .357. These are high-quality revolvers and with care will probably outlast your grand-children.

With a serial number prefixed with 70Kxxxx you gun is probably a 19-4 made circa 1980. There should be a pin in the frame just above the barrel and each chamber in the cylinder should hold a cartridge recessed and flush with the rear of the cylinder face ( called Pinned & Recessed or P&R ).

I'm in the S.F. Bay Area as well. Around here, one in excellent condition, with the original box, cleaning kit and papers could fetch $650. With the rubber grips, no box, papers or tools, that value drops to about $525.

S&W Model 19, 2 inch with original gripsthe .357 Magnum of choice for many police officers. It was light enough to carry all day and powerful enough for police work.
