Best technique for sighting in my Sigs?

Hello everyone. I just got a Unit Tool to install new sights on my Sig P220, P228, and P229. I was told that it was best to set up the sights for 25 yards. What is the fastest and most reliable way to get the sights properly set at that distance? Also, does anyone make decent target sights for the Sig Sauer Pistols.

The best way is to shoot it. Also, I think most pistols are sighted in at 50 yrads.

a lot would depend on how good a shooter you are.

      here's what i would do:
      1. install the sights and center them as best you can
      2. set a target up at 5-7 yards and shoot a 3 shot overlapping group
      3. adjust windage until you get the group centered...do not adjust for elevation
      4. move your target to 15 yards and repeat
      5. move you target to 25 yards and see if you're close for elevation

at 5-7 yards, i wouldn't even start adjusting for windage, until you get a group with all 3 shots at least touching. it's better to move the sights too much to begin with and come back, than to try to creep up on the correct amount needed

Stock sights on the Sigs that I own are not adjustable for distance, well they are but you need to change out the front sights until you get it where you want it. Do what 9mmepiphany said and it should get you on the paper, see where you have to hold the sights to get you on the paper at 25 yards and if it is acceptable then run it and if not then get yourself the next size shorter sight. Remember too, the front sights are backwards when you adjust them. That is to say that pushing the front sight left will cause the bullet to impact more towards the right and getting a taller sight will cause the impact to go down and vice versa.
