10mm auto fans... need advice/ help.

I've been in love with 10mm auto since I shot a buddies G20 about 5 years ago. Today, I was lucky enough to trade my M&P .40 for a Smith 1066 w/ night sites! Anyways, I was hoping some of you folks more in the know could assist me with the cheapest/ easiest setup out there to load my own brass with....

I wanna be able to afford to shoot my new baby.

Also, it only came with 1 mag, so if someone has some extra mags they'd be willing to part with at a reasonable price to help a new father out, I'd be interested. Thanks,

    Joe

Cheapest setup? I don't know - reloading costs money to get into, but once you get the ball rolling, it's a lot easier.

There are a few good threads in the reloading section that talk about what it takes to get started, I suggest you head on over there and do some reading.

Start by saving your brass. 10mm brass is hard to come by.

      Welcome to the 10mm club.
The bullets with my name on it I'm not worried about, it's the "To whom it may concern" ones I'm worried about.

Cheapest? Ignoring hand held presses, A Lee turret press. Press, dies, powder measure and scale Probably set you back $250 for everything

Best? Dillon Square Deal B ($350) or Dillon 550 OR Dillon 650 and a scale
The Dillon SDB comes set up and ready to go, You just need to set the amount of powder you want and away you go.
ps Congratulations on finding that S&W

Go to doubletap, buy ammo, save the shells and reload.

              as to "cheap"...

              you could go Lee....

which is a quality press...but slower...you do the decap in batches...then all of the priming...then powder then bullet seat etc... can be way slower...
but a good "deal" for the budget minded...

reloading becomes a necessity since there are not alot of barrels out there in 40sw to fit your gun...glocks yes...yours not so much...have fun and enjoy your new gun...

I suggest going on e-bay,craigslist ect. and looking for a used single stage press like an old c&h,bonanza, pacific or RCBS Rockchrusher. You should be able to pick up one for $50 or less. These things hardly ever wear out(RCBS backs their stuff for life). Look for a RCBS 10-10 or 10-5 scale and a powder measure from the same sources. I think for most recreational shooters (=/> 100 rds a week) this is fine. Ive never had my 10 go hungry with this set-up...just takes a little longer. Congrads on your new 10!.....P.S you can load 40s with the same dies.

                    Dillon is the solution.

Even if all you want is a one caliber set-up in the beginning, with the Dillon you can purchase extra toolheads and switch over to reloading other calibers very easily.

The 10mm is an easy round to reload, and there's much dough to be saved in reloading.
The way some gunshop clerks spout off, you'd think that they invented gunpowder and the repeating rifle, and sat on the Supreme Court as well.

+1 on the Lee Turret press. Very economical setup. And it's not as slow as a single stage. You get one loaded round for every three pulls of the lever. Once the powder and dies are in place, I can crank out 50 rds in under 15 mins.

+100 on the Lee Classic Turret press. Faster than a single stage, cheaper than a Dillon, super-easy to change calibers, and an overall great, great value.

I own a Dillon 650, 550, Lee Classic Turret, and a RCBS Rockchucker, and I'm not getting rid of any of them.

I REALLY appreciate all the replies. Based on what I'm reading, I think Lee is probably the first setup I'll want to get. I also meant to ask in the orig. post, what do you guys think about replacing the recoil spring etc? I read on some of the posts hear about 10mm that it can be a bit abusive if this isn't done. Anyone got any tips as far as some preventative maintenance?
