My wife and I have trained locally and at FrontSight. FS was better, but you do have to travel and the costs involved. The good thing for me, is my wife loves FS and the people we meet there, so we train a lot (we have 8 classes at FS this year!).

I've taken courses at a number fo places from Goldenwest Police adademy to Front sight, Gunsight and Firearms Training associates in Norco. Firearms training associates is run by Bill Murphy from Surefire and Gunsight and is local, realatvely inexpensive and run by awesome people.

I've taken the Aim Fast Hit Fast class by Todd Green 2 years in a row and highly recommend it for intermediate to advance level shooters who want to push their limits of speed while maintaining acceptable accuracy, 45R did and AAR for it here:

I've also taken a Practical shooting class from Bruce Gray a few years back and that was a good class that concentrates on the competition end of things, those are the only notable firearm classes I'd recommend that I've taken.
My opinions are my own and do not represent the position of other companies I may be involved with.

Gregs the man. Because he is LEO, he gives great insight on how to stay out of trouble. Very affordable, if you can, take basic handgun one and two on the same day. Double taps, triple taps, what fun. And, if you ever want to get a CCW he IS the man to talk to.

I've taken a number of training classes there, I highly recommend them. The General Handgun class is a prerequisite for all the advanced handgun classes, it's very good and two days. Half a day in the class room and 1 1/2 days of shooting drills. You'll need maybe 400 rounds. All very good instructors.
