    Dry fire twitch

I have been practicing dry firing with snap caps over the last couple of weeks with a real focus on the surprise release and having the front sight not moving relative to the rear sight.
I've got a lot better over a limiter period of time but I'm noticing that there is a slight twitch to teh irght when I pull the trigger. Oddly enough when I'm actually shooting I tend to shoot slightly low rather than right, but I'm definitely noticing this slight twitch to the right upon pulling the trigger. Is there an accepted way to cure that, whether by moving grip round to the right or to the left? Any advice helpful and gratefully accepted?
    regards

Are you pulling the trigger with the first joint of your trigger finger? You want to use the pad of your trigger finger and try to concentrate on "squeezing" the trigger straight back.

Sometimes this involves a slight grip change, depending on what you are doing now.

I was just about to search this very topic because Ive been practicing dryfiring as well on my Sig P226 and I get that twitch to the right. Only a little bit in SA, but a whole lot in DA. Ive been taught to make sure and use the pad of the trigger finger, and I still couldnt get rid of the twitch. So I ended up trying the "wrong" way, which is initially how I shot, which was to squeeze the trigger by wrapping my index finger around the trigger with the first joint on it. No more twitch. Go figure.

As a result of this, my conclusion is that its good to learn how to do things the correct way, but ultimately we need to adjust to our own biomechanics which usually is by just trying out a bunch of ways.

Shooting low might not be a twitch but a flinch, maybe?

edit: Also forgot to mention another link about a good grip which I had followed in the past. This method teaches you to grip with your weak hand canted forward stabilizing the left side of the gun with your thumb along the frame, as well as 60% of the grip strength vs 40% of the trigger hand. The more relaxed grip of the trigger hand then only has 1 job instead of 2.(squeezing the trigger vs squeezing the trigger and gripping the gun) This worked for me 50% of the time. Maybe you'll get better results.

It's hard to tell by just the info you provided. What kind of gun is it? If your grip, finger position and trigger control method is good you may consider checking for mechanical causes.

I've seen a lot of guns with over-travel that cause 'twitching' no matter how good your trigger control is. I've seen a lot of shooters cut their group sizes by half with just the over-travel removed. Over-travel is the distance the trigger travels after it breaks. The trigger pull weight traveling that distance is hard for anyone to keep the gun still. Check for it.

they're usually less obvious when i have all ten of the "power rings" on, but i had the cloaking device up and figured Iron Man wouldn't be able to locate me during this shoot
              or
i could tell you that they are a remnant from too many years of piano practice
              or
that it's part of a secret martial art form

              but that would be telling

I don't know why it is, but some people have GIANT finger nail "issues", as in it bugs the crap out of them if someone's nails are not clipped to the quick and at the point of almost taking a chunk out of the finger itself. I've been tracking it geographically, and it seems to be primarily an issue with the more "prissy" metro areas. Get a life people, there are far more important things to worry about.

Understandable. Not being an evil Mandarin bent on world domination, but a guitar player, I tend to keep my picking-hand nails a bit longish to begin with. Because of a particular medical condition, I grow hair/nails about 3 times faster than normal. Again people need to get a life.

General advice for nobody in particular. Don't talk about my "10am shadow" or my nails, and I won't remind you that you are petty, almost certainly (given the percentages) have an IQ 20 or more points lower than mine, and shoot poorly.

LOL, it just caught me off guard! The nails plus the thumbs-forward grip give the illusion that your thumbs are super long in that picture. Hey bro, rock out, and one day you'll get Stark!

Does that chip on your shoulder cause you to shoot low?

No joke! If your crap grows 3x as fast, maintain it 3x as well! If you had to poop 3x more often, would you only wipe every third time??
