CA-DOJ approval - Beretta into Stoeger

The Beretta/Stoeger Cougar 8045. It's set up just like the 92fs in that it has a manual safety/decocker and it's DA/SA. It's compact with 6- or 8-round mags. Originally it was made by Beretta and now by Stoeger, but only the Beretta version is on the CA roster.

    http://www.stoegerindustries.com/fir...ger_cougar.php

That leads me to a question I wanted to raise. The CA roster shows the Beretta 8045f as currently approved. While it, strictly speaking, isn't made by Beretta, but by Stoeger, which is under the Beretta umbrella, and using Beretta tools and machines, would the Beretta approval extend to the Stoeger? I would like to get one (a Stoeger 8045f), without waiting for a used Beretta to come up for sale, if that were the case.

    Thanks,

Sorry but your thinking is based on logic and thus won't make any sense with the CA DOJ.

Write to DOJ and see what their response is.

        Funny, but it shouldn't be.

You very well might be correct. And thanks for the laugh.

Basically, I think Stoeger would need to contact CADOJ to see about transfering the roster listing over to the Stoeger name, if it is at all possible to do so.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

Put it this way springfield XD 9mm pistols are on the list and HS2000s aren't and they are identical except for the name. They are both made in the same factory. The HS2000 was on the list 1st and fell off and can not longer be imported. Makes a lot of sense. Mark

And that is what it ultimately comes down to, I guess. California has gotten so socialist, it won't do anything for anybody, if doesn't somehow line someone's pocket in the bureaucracy.

If things work out as hoped this evening, this concern will be over, for me anyway. Member LA Gun had a deal on a Beretta 8045f I couldn't ignore.

Thanks for all of the feedback.

                        It doesn't matter.

To my knowledge, Stoeger only makes the 9mm and .40 cal versions of this pistol.

Not true, or I wouldn't have raised the question. See this page:

After some discussion offline, Stoeger may very well not make it as well as Beretta did, and that dampens my enthusiasm a bit.

I have just done that. Thanks for the suggestion.
