    Springfield Armory Loaded FTE

So today I took out my new Loaded. First time shooting it. Prior to taking it out I cleaned it and lubed the rails.
I was shooting Remmington 230gr ball ammo. First 4 mags not a hicup. Shot great. 5th mag 2nd round fires then a FTE. Cleared it fired the rest of the mag no problem. Reloaded 5 mags, shot 7 more rounds no problem. Then the next mag had a couple more FTE's. Next mag no problems. Last 3 mags each had a couple FTE's.
All the magaziens are new SA 7 round mags. The gun looks like it got pretty dirty with the Remington rounds. Could this be the cause of the FTE's?
Any ideas would be great guys.
    Thanks

Its been my personnel experience that even though Springfield makes good guns, they've always seemed to need some breaking in. Id say clean it again, lube it, and maybe grab some other ammo and put more rounds threw it. A buddy of mind had to do it with his, and now functions great. My .02

If you bought a Sig GSR in the first place you wouldn't have that problem. Just kidding. Try to shoot about 100 rounds next time and if it still doing it you may want the extractor, chamber and ejector checked out by a competent 1911 smith.

sound like you just need to put some more rounds through it before you start worrying.

Ditch the crappy SA mags (for WC, Chip, Tripp, KimPro, etc.) and I'll give you chocolate chip cookies if I'm wrong.

My Springfield Mil-spec had some FTEs during the first 100 rounds but since then it has been flawless. I think that you just need to break yours in some more too.

I have a Springfield loaded that had FTChamber. I used every type of round, magazine, etc. After about 250 rounds I decided to send it back to Springfield. It cost $35 through a local dealer. It took 3 weeks. Would have been quicker but had some work done through the Pro Shop. They sent it back and it shoots with any failures of any type to date. That's 500 rounds. They have good CS but wish the product performed out the box. QA instead of CS might be better

Just by the nature of it's larger number of fitted parts, the 1911 is more difficult to get working 100% than more modern handguns. If you want perfect fit and finish in a 1911 than you're looking at a $2000+ handgun. It's just the nature of the best.

At the same time.. I'm hearing ALOT of problems across several forums (this one included) with the Springfield 1911s. Might just be because more people purchase them overall, or maybe the Springfield lemon receivers are more vocal online - but vs other sub $1,000 1911s... I hear less problems from Rock Island vs Springfield. At the very least, I always hear Springfield has top-notch customer service.

Sometimes, it's just a simple fix. FTE every once in a while sounds like the extractor doesn't have enough tension. Field strip the slide (barrel, bushing, spring rod, plug and spring). Slip a loaded round under the extractor and shake your slide up and down. Does the round fall out?

I'm a 1911 guy. Owned Springfields and they worked great. Pretty much any 1911 needs to break in a bit. Give her time and that old workhouse design will function as well as any 'black' gun.

Even if it doesn't, you can still hammer a nail and/or beat someone senseless with that 1911 (unlike most 'black' guns).

i think there is a lower expectation of a cast frame from the Philippines than a forged frame from Brazil or maybe Springfield purchasers have unreasonable expectations when buying lower end models

Guys thanks for all the help. Turns out it was the extractor.
