    Kahr 9mm shooting low

    Hi all

I bought a Kahr CW9mm a few months ago, and absolutely love the gun - the previous owner had installed after-market tritium sights. I've noticed at the range that the gun is shooting fairly low - about 4" low at 10-15 yards. I've tried Speer Gold Dot +P short barrel 124 grain, and winchester 147 grain.

While reading the current guns & ammo, I noticed their review of the new Kahr 9mm, and while they were positive on the gun, they also said it shot consistently 4" low.

Anyone have any ideas? What are my options? Looks like the rear sight is help on with two allen screws, so perhaps I can put a shim underneath and jack the rear site up?

I had a CW9 and the rear sight was a dovetailed press fit, and it was TIGHT.

I think I would consider filing the front sight down.

First, of course make sure it is the gun and not you. Let someone else try, or shoot from a bench.

Btw mine shot 4+ inches to the left. I had the barrel replaced by Kahr and they fixed it more or less.

      1) my pm9 would shoot consistently HIGH until I changed my grip. I have a number of handguns from 22LR to 480 Ruger and must hold this gun much tightly than any of them while keeping my wrists and elbows locked. I wouldn't recommend doing that in general and especially not in a heavy recoiling gun. This adjustment made my point of aim equal to my point of impact.

      2) although, you've already tried 147gr ammo with no difference, heavier/slower bullets should and do have a higher point of impact than lighter/faster bullets.

      3) IIRC, meprolight trudots, trijicons and XS big dots are the nightsights available for Kahrs. I had a set of XS big dots on another gun that I removed because I couldn't hit squat with them (consistently high also). In other words, some people's eyes see sights differently than other people's. Those sights just may not work for you. However, if it shoots low with other shooters, consider sending it back to Kahr as it could be a number of othe mechanical problems that they can figure out. And finally, if there's no other resolution it should be easy and cheap for a gunsmith to shorten the height of the front sight which will raise the point of impact.
