Top notch work by those guys.Artist formally known as CEO of Tracy Rifle and Pistol -
They do great work but I heard getting work done takes time. For just a sight change I would send it to Rich at Canyon Creek. He has a much faster turn around time.If you can't shoot good, at least look good shootingComment

Then anotherhorsePONY came out, a fiery red one. Its rider was given power to take peace from the earth and to make men slay each other. To him was given a huge sword. My kinda guy.Comment

I sent my XD there to have night sights installed, and it was a good experience. They were responsive and the turnaround time was quicker than predicted.
BTW the XD sights have a reputation for being a little difficult to install. If you did go with a local gunsmith it would be good to check if he'd ever installed them before.Comment

Jeremy at SA Custom has worked on a couple of XD's for me. They have all turned out great. Highly recommended (plus you maintain factory warranty on the pistol and the new work).
In addition to sights, I had the Competition trigger job done (to remove both overtravel and take-up...but still at 4-1/2lbs) as well as have the factory barrels rewelded and refit (no movement in the barrel whatsoever now when it is locked up....I talked to them, and they said this is pretty much what all of their smiths do to their XD's rather than fit an after market barrel).
That being said, as others have mentioned, if it is just sights you are after, you might get faster/cheaper service elsewhere. For the whole 9 yards, I highly recommend SA Custom. Not to say others don't do good work....but the factory custom shop does for sure.Comment

I've read much of the same. You drop your pistol off for sight replacement and hear the sound of the pounding the sights get (front especially) with a drift punch and a hammer. Sounds pretty ugly....but seems to be the way everyone gets them off...even SA....Can't figure why they are installed so tight.Comment
