when did CZ started the polycoat finish?

Quick question, when did CZ start using the polycoat finish on their pistols? Was it around 2002?



Also, is it like the K-kote finish like what SigArms puts on their slides so there will be minimal holster wear? Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

No, I don't think it was around 2002.

There was a new batch of CZ75's made in the 1990's to be imported for sale into the US. This new commercial batch started the use of the newer coated finish, I believe. Prior to this, from what I know, CZ75's were hard to come by and usually had blued finishes.

Today's batch either have the enamel finish, or a blued finish, based on what I've seen for sale.

I recall reading that the first batches of CZ75's for sale in the US were Turkish contract overruns, not that this has any bearing on the finish type.

Yup, and Brownells has been selling their bake-on finish for quite some time, same concept and appears to have gotten pretty good reviews in the past.
