    High- Capacity magazines

Can an armed guard or a person with a california guard card legally purchase high -capacity magazines? I swear I searched the boards and could not find the answer.

No, only sworn law enforcement, military, movies, and dealers who sell to LEOs can possess high caps unless that person owned them prior to the ban.

I saw an armored car guy on friday with an extended magazine. It was sticking out about 2 inches. I asked him about it, his reply was that it was a 20 round magazine for his glock 22. I told him that I only thought L.E.O.'s could carry high capacity magazines. He told me that he was also allowed. I told him I was jealous because I also own a glock 22 and could not get high capacity magazines. Then he told me all the illegal ways to get high capacity magazines.

There was a discussion before. Armored Truck companies are allowed to sell magazines to anyone, being the only backdoor into obtaining a magazine with > 10 rds in CA.

Obscure wording at best, and already considered and disregarded as a valid front to attacking 12020.

No, security guards are not exempted from large capacity magazine laws, unless issued by their employer, and used during the course of their duties.

What was the exact wording, if you don't mind reminding us ?

The wording is "(27) The sale of, giving of, lending of, importation into this state of, or purchase of, any large-capacity magazine, to or by entities that operate armored vehicle businesses pursuant to the laws of this state."

Someone argued that means "the sale of.. large capacity magazines.. by an armored truck company" but, to paraphrase, it was not considered to be a strong enough argument worth the effort and time ($$) to go after, since it was such an ambiguity, and there are more effective means post incorporation.

Your assuming too much. Maybe he did have a bunch of Glock Hi caps and just slapped the Arrendondo +5 baseplates on there. I use those with my high caps, my G21 holds 18+1 and my 17 is 22+1

I assumed nothing. I asked him what he had. He told me what he had. He had a one 20 round magazine for his glock, his back up magazine was a 10 rounder.

Wrong! Statute of limitation begins when you assemble them in state.
