    Stippling / Reductions

How many of you guys have sent in your Glocks to get a stippling or reduction job done? I heard about this process from Magpul's Handgun DVD and was wondering how many people actually use it.

I can see how stippling could have a positive effect on grip to aid recoil management, but does reduction actually help change the way the Glock feels in the hand?

Also, would you choose between a Glock or a M&P? Of the two, which one has a lower height to bore? (Why do they call it a height to bore ratio? I've never heard the ratios being calculated either ) Am I being an idiot for being confused between the two? It probably boils down to preference in grip, trigger, and perceived accuracy doesn't it?

The M&P is much more ergonomic than the glock, I did my own stipple on the removeable backstrap and it turned out good. I don't think the m&p needs as much work as the glock to make it fit/work for you. You noticed that was what both instructors were shooting right?

M&P has the lower bore axis. Recoil is quite manageable even in .45 and double/triple taps are easy to keep on target. I love mine.

Try both guns in person. Only you can decide what works for you. I prefer the Glock over the M&P because it feels easier to point in *my* hands. You also have a lot more aftermarket options in terms of sights, triggers, etc.

I don't like stippling and prefer 3M tape or TruGrip. Gives you a much more positive grip.

Yes, I know that's what they were shooting, but I'm not they kind of person that will go out and buy everything that they're wearing so I can perform like they do. That being said, and from what I've read from their posts on other forums, they are using the M&P because it was given to them for testing and evaluation.

I have tried both guns in person. And they do both work for me, with the M&P feeling better in my hands and the Glock being more accurate. I'll attribute my lack of accuracy foremost to being new to shooting (I've shot maybe 500 rounds?), and second to using range rental guns.

Trugrip looks like an interesting idea. What 3M tape are you talking about?

I had a grip reduction done on my Glock 35 after buying an XD9 Tactical and was shooting the XD much better than the Glock in IDPA and USPSA. The Glock now points like an 1911, and the XD. Really like the Glock with the reduction. I would buy more if they would just offer a 1911 grip angle. Wish I could get a CCF in Ca.

3M sure step. The ladder tape you get at home depot. TruGrip is way better but he only sells it for a few guns (he does have them for Glocks though).

Except that your Glock is now no longer IDPA legal since a grip reduction is an externally visible mod

I can shoot it in the ESP division. 40 Minor rules! SSP is for sissies! LOL!
I have not shot it in IDPA since I got the XD 9 tactical, in 2004.
I also use it in USPSA Limited Division, and the Tactical Division in 3 gun.
