I cant think of a sight off hand but I know if you contact the Cabelas store in Reno and they have the gun in stock they can get it to your local FFL within a matter of a day or two. Also have you tried asking the shop to order the gun for you? They can get it shipped right from the factory, sometimes shops will cut you a deal too.

OP, are you intending to buy an actual GI model or perhaps a step up and a Milspec model. I would recommend the Milspec even tho it costs more. It has larger sights, nice wood grips (at least my SA model did) and a lowered and flared ejection area.

I think you would be a lot happier with the Milspec and I would surmise most of the other posters would say the same.

I searched in Sacramento and found one. The dealers that didn't have it told me it wasn't available online from the factory. The web said "allocated" under the availability column. Good luck with your search and you should look into the Mil spec better sights. By the way I got mine for $580.

I have a Mil Spec but would have prefered a GI. It will probably be my next gun. I really like the vertical slide serrations on the GI and it has the least amount of roll marks on it. Most of us end up changing a lot of the parts regardless what level 1911 it is.

The GI is a great start and if you have any issues with it Springfield will take it back, fix it and send it back to you all on their dime...so there's no risk in buying one.

I recently saw that both ffl's near me have parkerized GI in stock along with several other Springfield 1911's. It's as if they just released a new batch!

I say check in with your local ffl because they will evetually get them in stock.
