S&W model 39/59 barrel

My first gen S&W 9mm needs a new barrel (large recess in the chamber causing bulging cases).

Are the model 59&39 barrels identical?

Anyone know of a bay-area source that might have one kicking around in a drawer? I've checked online but hesitant to buy a used and long-out-of-production part w/o having a look at it first.

You might wanna compare a factory S&W bbl to the lowball aftermarket.

Unfortunately 2nd/3rdGen S&W bbls are relatively rare - you don't see them nearly as often as Glock, Browning, etc. replacement bbls.

According to Numrich Arms listing they are the same. They have used available for $58.00 (which you may have already learned) and new stainless for $128.00. I've pretty always found Numrich condition to mean at least serviceable, usually better, on their used stuff
