    looking for gun store

    Hi guys,

I didn't know where to put this, but do you know of any gun stores that would buy handguns used?

I have 2 ed browns that have nothing more than 100 rounds through them and a kimber custom 2 TLE that has 300 rounds through it.

Looking to sell them all at one place. They were all purchased within one year ago. I live in Los Angeles.

    Thanks.

    Gunrunners in Duarte, CA.
    Buckhorn Guns in Glendora, CA.
    Gunslingers in Glendora, CA.
    Turners location of your choice.

You can sell them outright or put them on consignment. You will likely get more out of Consignment. Check around to see what the charges will be at each store.

    Good luck.

Outright buy will not be that much money and consignment is definatly the way to go at a shop. However, a private sale will get you the most money.

Los Angeles is a big place, but if you're anywhere near Culver City, there is Martin B. Retting. http://www.retting.com/
Unless you really need the money, like today, I would highly recommend just throwing an ad up here in the forums. There is a voracious lot of gun-buyers that are ready and willing to cough up the dough and meet you at your choice of gun stores.

Either way, good luck with your sale!

I'd recommend posting them for sale right here on Calguns, in the private firearms forum. Read the rules before doing so.

You are going to take such a huge hit on those selling them directly to a gun store. Seriously, put them for sale here on the forum and you'll get more money and someone will get a better deal than buying them used at the gun store.

As others have already said.. just post in the forum in here. It'll sell fast if you give out a fair price. I've seen stuff move within minutes of posting.

Most shops are getting 25% of the loot on consignment sales. I didn't look to see if the guns you mentioned are rostered... if not, they cannot do an outright buy. If you bought them within the past year chances are they are still rostered.

I agree with finding a buyer on these forums -- it will net you the most. You'll do better if you're willing to break up the set -- finding one buyer for all three simultaneously is a tad more difficult.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the FFL can buy them regardless. They just can't sell them to anyone except LEO. The FFL holder can keep them for personal use.

I'd try to sell the better ones here, especially if they are off-roster handguns...there might be a pretty big demand for some types.

let the shop buy the stragglers or give it 60 days on consignment.

My luck selling here on this site is about 75 percent... the other 25 percent fail-to-sell is usually over pricing.

You are correct. A dealer can buy an off-roster handgun -- they are only limited in what they can then do with it.

The restriction is on the sale of an off-roster handgun to the average citizen (i.e. - non LEO) from dealer inventory. PPTs exempted; and consignments, which are in essence PPTs, are also exempt.

Plus the dealer could sell it out of state on an auction site, et cetera

As for the dealer (FFL) keeping it for personal use -- don't think so. Isn't that a transfer from inventory to personal use -- and the dealer as an individual has no greater right than joe citizen.

I'm not sure. Maybe because he is an FFL holder, he is exempted. I know having an FFL precludes you from a lot, but I don't know all. My dad had one before the Clinton Bill, (Bill Clinton, isn't that funny ) and bought a lot of guns for himself. Shipped to the house, no tax, no 10 day wait, etc. But then again, this was way pre roster.

                              Hey guys,

                              Thanks for the replies.

I might consider selling them on the forum, since it would help me as well as the other party who is buying them.

Most of you are probably wondering why I'm selling these guns. I'm a University student getting little sleep everyday due to the stress of school/seeing patients everyday as well as studying. I don't have the time for this recreation. Also, I'm buying a dental office soon.

                              Anyways: here is my guns:

                              1) Ed Brown Special Forces. - tested 100 rounds of factory ammo after purchase. Its been cleaned since then, and oiled.
                              2) Ed Brown Executive target - tested 100 rounds of factory ammo after purchase. Its been cleaned since then, and oiled.
                              3) Kimber 1911 - Custom 2 TLE. - Tested 300 rounds of ammo (factory) after purchase. Its been cleaned since then, and oiled.

Again, all purchases were made within 1 year.

I also have 2 holsters made by Wilson Combat, and mag pouch, and 5 wilson combat 47 D magazines, as well as the original magazines that came with the guns.
