Interesting, I did not know that. Thanks for sharing.

I figured they were after market mags that were swapped out to address the 10 round ban.

"Woher kommst du Fraulein?" works for me.

There was a lag. It was approximately 1995 that Sig ran out of slides marked with "Made in W. Germany."

Even if it was 1995, technically, the slide was still made in West Germany.

Although it really doesn't matter to me it would be nice to know where it was made. I believe it has the proof marks marks on it that Daniel is referring to in the quote below. This is exactly the info I wanted to get. I will check when I get home from work for these proof marks.

            Thanks everyone for your input.
Hi. Im a fellow sig fan. Im aware this is an old thread but just want explore this as i think im looking at a sig similar to this. A friend is trading his SIG P228 with triple matching serial, german proof markings and code. Its a swiss police firearm and its made in germany basing on the proof marks but it does not have any markings that it was "made in germany". I am just curious if you guys have encountered a german sig without the made in germany markings? It does have all the german proof marks and the serials matched. The only thing missing is the germany or the made in germany markings.

Same thing done on the Walther pistols.
Mine has a button mag release and says "made in west Germany" right on the slide.

              Bought it in May 1990.

Start a new thread to ask your question, do not revive a thread that has been dead for five and a half years - or as you can see it will go off the rails quickly.

Also, post some pics of the proof marks and the date code. You might have a unicorn, who knows!

I've got a German Made P220 I bought new. It has "Made in German" on the slide. However, it has no proof marks.

Have you checked underneath the slide next to the dust cover?

                      Or on the barrel good?

Was probably made in the USA from leftover German parts. It happened during the transition. By law if it was made in Germany it would have the proof marks applied.

There is non. I know it would normally be on the right side on the slide. That is why im so curious. Its a swiss police firearm. The proof marks are present, the serials match barrel slide and frame. The only thing missing is the "made in germany" markings. So much like XDroX posted. Its german base on those proof marks. But without "made in germany"?
