SP 2022 Range Report + Sight Picture

Hi all -

I wasn't going to post this but I originally wanted to know about the SP 2022 9mm sight picture. Forgive me if my terms aren't correct (e.g. I'm learning about combat vs. target sight picture).

The Factory ammo I used was Speer Lawman 9mm 115gr RN.
The Handloads I used were 125gr RN with WSF 4.3gr

Here's my first 10 shots out of my brand new SP2022 9mm:


After realizing it shot low I adjusted my sight picture to produce this:


I eventually got use to the sight picture which had the front-sight above the rear "ears" and shot this. I decided to shoot the first shot as Double Action:


Lastly, my own load:


Here's what my sight picture looks like when I shoot my 229:


Here's the sight picture when I shoot my 2022 9mm:


The above is slightly exaggerated to make my point but at 10 yards I had the front sight a tad lower then what you see in the pic above.

Is this normal for the SP 2022 9mm?

Cool, thanks for the update. I wonder why you're shooting lower. For the most part, when I compared my P226 to the SP2022, they seemed similar except for the decocker and maybe the Sp2022 feeling a lil bulkier at the grips (that might be due to having the larger grips installed though). That is strange though.. I just remember I had the same issue, but only on my friend's Walther. I shot low with it every time but he shot straight as an arrow. All my center of mass shots landed on the target's nuts.

I'm sure its me.. but Google search shows at least one other person having a similar experience. It's no biggie I just have to adjust my sight picture but it's just one more thing to think about.

maybe the sights are aligned so it is what i think the AR guys call the 6 o clock hold? where the bullets hit above the front sight? so when you aim, you put the front sight post just below what you want to hit?

so if using the targets you posted as example. you put the front sight post just on the 10 ring so you see the entire 10 ring sitting ontop of the front sight post.

I think it's the opposite. If I aim with the dots level.. the shots hit below the target (which is normally above the sights).

I plan on going again this Sat. so I'll try to pay more attention.

whoops.... i got that confused.....

but yea, the concept is similar? but if that is the case, then maybe the front sight post is tall? or the rear sights are short?
