    Springfield XD

I was thinking about buying a XD subcompact in .40S&W and was wondering if anybody had any experiences good or bad with it. I like the way it feels in my hand and would be a great carry pistol.

i like mine, so far so good with it.

Im putting it to a torture test of sorts, im not going to clean it for about 1k rounds and see how it goes. Its at 150 right now and hasnt had a hiccup.

The finish on the slide is horrible, wears quickly and prone to rust.

I have the XD9 service model. I've had it for about 2 years and it has been very reliable. As Josh mention, the finish is the downside.

I don't know why exactly but I've been reading that the .40 version has not been reliable but the 9mm is great.

There were several owners talking about the "well known" problems with the XD-40 on the High Road forum as well as the 1911 forum.

These were the full-length versions though, not the sub-compact model.

I have a XD-9 Tatical (5" barrel.) After more than thousand (mixed) rounds I have not had one glitch.... And I shoot the cheapest ammo I can find. My Dad has the compact XD-9 and the same goes for him as well. The only problem is I dont find the XD compact that compact. If you are looking for a carry I would look into a Kahr P9.... Not the PM9, but the P9.

I have a XD9 Tac and have fired a subcompact. I replaced a glock G34 with the XD9. I find the XD triggers and grip angle were more to my liking. Recoil wasn't too bad on the subcompact. With the finger extensions on the magazine, it almost felt like shooting a fullsize gun.

Thanks for the reply guys. I couldn't wait anymore and went and bought an xd40 subcompact. Now the hard part comes(waiting for the gun that i've already paid for).I compared it with a small glock(don't remember the model number, didn't like the way it felt in my hand) also looked at the 4" model but still liked the balance of the 3" better. Can't wait to shoot it
