    single stack 9mm suggestions?

i have smaller hands so i prefer single stacks. i plan to get a 1911 someday because it fits me perfectly but i want a 9mm for now. i saw a sig p225 at turners but unfortunately it had the european heel magazine release so that was a deal killer.

what other options are there? also i couldnt find any single stack 9mm with rails. is there such a thing?

The Sig P6 is the German Military/Police version of the 225 and have the standard mag release. I have a couple of them and they are great pistols!

    Try J and G sales.

Kahr makes some nice CA approved single stack 9mm pistols. They are on the compact side but good quality guns. you can choose either polymer or steel frames.

only problem is they are not cheap.

            Sig P239

The Sig P239 is a good choice for a single stack 9mm. It doesn't have a rail, but most single stack 9mms don't have one. The Kahr K9 or P9, and the S&W 3913 are also good single stack 9mms.

              Why not a 9mm 1911?

Pretty good answer based on the OP's post. Kill two birds with one stone and get a 1911 9mm.

I'd get a Sig P6. Pay attention to the Turner's ads because they occasionally have em on sale! And if you have the dough, I would definately get a 9mm 1911 if you didn't want it in 45.

As said above the P6 is a great choice but if you like the P225, and just have to have a P225 over the P6 then look for one of the P225 that have the standard mag release.. They are out there and can be had for a fair price if you do a little looking and once and a while I see them at Turners..

                    Good luck.

I have small fingers. The 1911 is the largest pistol I like shooting.
I've found the S&W 3913 is one of the best 9mm pistols out there -- check out how it feels.
I don't know if it's on the list for CA, but I was very impressed with the feel of the new Ruger P-9 or whatever it's called, at the SHOT SHow.
I find SIGs have a barrel bore line too high for control in a small gun.

+1 for the p6. there are few differences between the p225 and the p6, and if it's the feed ramp you're concerned about because you don't want to shoot just ball, "Sig P6s manufactured after June 14th, 1989 have an improved feed ramp" (cf. SKS boards)

walther pps, keltec pf-9. both are good single stack 9mm with rails.

I was also about to chime in that a 1911 in 9mm would be a good "2 birds w/ 1 stone" solution. Then again.. I know some 1911 purists who'll think 9mm on a 1911 is heresy...

Just about any of the S&W 39 series would be an excellent choice, and they run the gamut from compact to full size. I've owned them and they rock.

That said, even though it's a compact, I've found my P239 to be the best all around 9mm I currently own. SiG rugged and utterly dependable. The grip could be just a bit longer, for my big hands, but with the ten round mag in place, it works well for me.

And I owned a lightweight Commander at one time in 9MM. It was a good shooter, but couldn't keep the spring housing for the slide stop / safety plungers staked to the frame.
