CA Legality Question - H&K USP Tactical

The letter of the law is pretty clear when it comes to handguns with a threaded barrel and detachable magazine. However, I am curious how the law would be interpreted in a scenario involving a disassembled H&K USP Tactical? For example, if the individual parts (i.e. frame, slide, barrel, etc) were all stored separately in the same safe... Would this be considered illegal?

No it would not. There's no constructive possession laws in California.

Why don't you just order a Jarvis non-threaded barrel?

Be careful. CA does have constructive possession laws, just not for Assault Weapons.

CA SBS/SBR laws do contain constructive possession.
You think you know, but you have no idea.

As noted, there is no constructive possession statute in relation to firearms with AW characteristics.

If you wanted to keep the pistol assembled, the best bet would be to get an aftermarket barrel (Jarvis mentioned above) or have the threads turned off the factory barrel by a machinist.
The way some gunshop clerks spout off, you'd think that they invented gunpowder and the repeating rifle, and sat on the Supreme Court as well.
