    41 AE

I just bought a full sized "NIB" Tangfolio (FIE import) blued slide, brushed stainless lower with 5" barrel in 41 AE - with no mag.

    Stop laughing.

Anyway, this gun has been sitting at the Castro Valley Gun Store for about 5 years and now it's Bullseye and the price on it was $400.00. I was kind of looking, wondered aloud why the hell I'd buy it - and when they said "Hell I'd sell it for $200.00" I figured what the heck. Now I guess I need to learn about the thing. Anyone own one and can give any answers?

Basically, I think it's an EAA Witness with a 41 cal barrel and 9mm extractor set up - the 41 AE shoots a 41 caliber (.410) but the tail end of the case is set up to work on a 9mm gun.

So item one is getting magazines and if I can't get originals - am I correct figuring that EAA Witness full sized 40 S & W mags will work? How about mags for the CZ 75 in 40 S & W?

I have access to a fair amount of 41 AE ammo, but really don't want to burn it up. Since the slide is set up for 9mm and Tangfolio makes 9mm barrels for the EAA - any chance these would fit? How about 38 Super?

A switch barrel semi auto for $200.00 plus the cost of another barrel would be a pretty good deal.

Any help from current owners would be great.

A few years ago, probably this century, I picked up a barrel for an IMI Baby Eagle in 9mm at the Costa Mesa gun show. Chrome lined, polygonal rifling for something like $15.00. It fit and worked in my Tanfoglio TZ 75 series 88 which came as a combo 9mm/.41AE. The vendor might have been Samco or Northridge International, possibly sitting in a bin next to French night vision glasses for $7.00.

Thanks for the tip - Sarco may even have them. I'm thinking of skipping the 9mm barrel and going 38 Super. Don't have one of those.

the magazines work interchangeably between 40SW and 41AE.

also, don't bother with the slide, just get an EAA 38 super barrel

Good luck! I'm down to my last 200 rounds of 41AE.

Does anybody still carry ammo? After 20 years, the .41AE barrel of my Jericho remains unfired. I have the box of ammo that came with it, but I'd like to keep it.

Don't know why, but I'm being told the 38 Super conversion won't work - can't figure out why it wouldn't. Maybe a heavier spring is needed or there's some other reason specific to this barrel and gun, but it seems to me the switch should work.

BTW, you know you have an odd caliber when a 38 Super is your "easier t o get" recourse.

If I remember correctly... there is a frame size difference... the old frames where 9mm size setups ... check with eaa

Wow, that is funny as hell. It was in the end case, last pistol, top shelf on the right hand side. I was in the store from 12:30 - 2:30 doing a couple of PPT's. I was talking to the bald guy, didn't get his name, nice guy, about it because I just sold my baby eagle in .41AE a couple of weeks ago. What time were you there? It had to be after I left. That's just too funny!

Yep - that's it. Pretty sure the fellow with the shaved head is Simon, he did the paperwork.

I got there about 6:35 pm - if it weren't for WalMarts cheap "Atra" razor blades (Personna brand - 10 pack for $3.54) I probably wouldn't have even been in the area. I started out in SF, drove down to San Jose and at every store came close to buying something - had just picked up $$$ from my AR30 sold at City Arms. So in San Jose I figured what the hell, I'll cruse up 880, maybe hit Bullseye and then WalMart in Hacienda.

That gun has been there years, Castro Valley GS had it out forever. I always liked it, when Bill said $200.00 buys it - hell, such a deal I can not pass up.

Now if you have any old brass laying about ......

No, no brass. When I got the pistol in 94, I bought 100 rds of Speer Lawman. Shot 50 to test the pistol, then .41AE dried up. I found some Samson at Imbert and Smithers years ago. $35 a box. I sold the ammo with the pistol. I found a guy on Gunbroker and bought 500 reloaded .45ACP. When I was looking at his feedback, just a couple of weeks prior, he sold 500 reloads of .41AE for only $177 and some change! I was ticked that I missed that one.
Look into EFK for barrel and replacement guide rods. They may still have magazines as well.
