Kahr MK40 Barrel Flaking

I just picked up my nib mk40 with night sights today. Went out and shot 50rnds with 5 failure to feeds. I inspected the barrel and there was flaking of the plating in the rifling of the barrel. The barrel is also kind of beat up on the side from a small machining bump on the slide. I am somewhat frustrated and was not looking foward to spending more money on shipping to fix my new gun that I paid so much for. I have lost a lot of respect for kahr....hopefully they can earn it back. I love my 1911 and my glock, even my sig, but I am not so pleased with my kahr.

The barrel is fully plated inside and out.

Send it to Kahr. They'll send you a new barrel ASAP.

Yup, Kahr barrels have been nickel plated since day one. No, it shouldn't flake off like that.

This is the same Kahr dissing thread that has been started elsewhere. IF this happened, he will get a new barrel or Kahr will pay shipping both ways if he needs to send the gun back.

I am not trying to diss Kahr I am just stating what my experience was and how I felt about the situation. Im sorry I am a new member and only have 2 posts. If I could take a picture inside the barrel to show everyone I would. Maybe I will try tomorrow.

I would like to see a picture. Kahr is not perfect, as I well know. There HAVE been reports of barrel flaking in older models. They WILL pay the freight both ways.

There have been threads started on Glock talk and Kahrtalk forums alleging outrageous failures which have proven to be fabrications. That you show up for the first time on this forum claiming an egregious problem with Kahr is just too perfect.

You can take a pic, pull slide back --> take pic. I'm curious to see the flaking myself

I have contacted customer service and let them know whats going on. I will keep you updated as to what is going on. Here are the pictures.

Sure doesn't look like my k9 barrel. If they don't get back to you fast I think I have a email addy that gets right to ground zero back there.

So, as I told you over on KahrTalk, where you also cut and pasted your OP, spend more time working on the problem with the company and less making internet assumptions about how funky the customer service is going to be.

I have been spending time talking to kahr and got my barrel shipped back today. I had to pay the shipping back to Kahr. They did NOT pick up the shipping cost. They told me 2-3 weeks before I get my barrel. I am not bad talking Kahr, I just believe if the barrel is their fault they should fix it at no cost to me....including shipping. Besides the barrel I really like the fit and finish of the gun.

I just got the new barrel and it doesnt not even come close to fitting. First, it is too short and second it is not even machined right for the gun. I had to wait three and a half weeks just to get the wrong barrel. I am very unhappy with kahr right now
