Sig p229 coming

Started the dreaded 10 day wait on a Sig P229.What's to expect out of this gun?Any pro's....con's.It's a .40 s&w.My son will be useing this one in the local pistol competitions. SSP class. and limited 10.I know the DA SA will be different than a Glock.He and I have been shareing My glock for comps.This should be a good gun right?

Did you get a Gen-2 or one with the rail? I'm looking forward to someday adding a P229 to my collection!

The Pros- its perfection
The Cons- does not apply since you have the .40 (if you bought it in 9mm, it is overshadowed by the P228)

Sigs are great guns. Very accurate and nice single action triggers. The only down side to Sigs are the transition from DA to SA. Gunfights are stressful enough without having to deal with a DA/SA system. You will know what I am talking about after running a few matches.

Great gun. Pick up a Sig or Barsto .357SIG barrel for fun.

It is a good gun and if he is a good shooter, he will outshoot most. Very soft shooting, low recoil, well made gun. But if he is up against an equal or better shooter, the Glock will be a faster gun. It is not a matter of preference that the top shooters in SSP are running Glocks in 9mm. The DA from holster is going to be a pain on the Sig.

But it is a great gun and in most cases, it won't matter.

It's a great pistol I really like it the recoil is awsome way better than a glock 23 I compared on both last time at the range. I get to pick up my sig p226 40 s&w tomorow can't wait. U and ur son are going to really like this pistol.

I had a P229 .40S&W and loved it. It is a fantastic gun. Some people don't like how much it "flips" with the high bore axis and I felt somewhat the same way, but you will get used to it. The DA/SA trigger is very different from a Glock but it is very much smoother and cleaner.

I got a P229 .40 as my first and only handgun (so far). Got it mainly for HD. It fits great in my hands and feels even better shooting. Usually when I am at the range, I fire it in SA mode. The DA is significantly a tougher shot, but in my situation it wont matter since I don't keep it chambered. Good choice.
