if a certain handgun is not on the ca doj files how can i obtain it?
can i have a relative buy in another state, and wait till he comes here to transfer it to me? would that be legal?

dont think you can bring it in from another state, if you can find it here, and i think it's fine to do the PPT.

So long as it's not an assault type, your cousin (friend, brother) can bring "his" gun into the state when he moves here. If it happens to be a gun you like I suppose you could purchase it from him in a private party transfer.

I don't think you'd want to unduly complicate matters at the time of transfer by saying "He bought this Model 29 in Vegas for me because the pawn shop wouldn't sell it to someone from CA".

If by "comes here" you mean move into the state then yes that person can move into the state and file a certain document with the DOJ then do a PPT to you.
