    AR Pistol Question

    Hello All,

I read the wiki, but couldn't find a clear answer on this. Please help me out here. If I want to build a Cali legal AR-15 pistol, can I start with a stripped lower and DROS it as a pistol. Or do I have to start with an unfinished (0-80%) lower? Or purchase a declared pistol lower from a manufacturer?

Thanks for any help clearing this up

Can't DROS a STRIPPED lower as a pistol. Must be in single shot configuration when it shows up to FFL. Either buy a complete or have someone out of state build you one and send it to your FFL.

My understandings of 80% lowers is they don't need to be registered or have a serial number unless you plan on selling it.

Ah, that's what I was missing - can't DROS a stripped lower as a pistol at all.

      Thanks, I am unconfused.
