    How to Get AOW

    Hello all, Kinda of new to this so sorry if this has been asked before.

    Question #1: I purchased a Draco pistol. Id like to install a forward grip. I understand that this turns it into a AOW and I need a tax stamp. How to I go about doing this? Do I have to go the trust route?

    Question #2: Is it as hard to get AOW status on a pistol here in CA as it is to get a SBR tax stamp on a long gun?

    Any help would be appreciate.

    "# (4) A semiautomatic pistol that has the capacity to accept a detachable magazine and any one of the following:

    * (A) A threaded barrel, capable of accepting a flash suppressor, forward handgrip, or silencer.
    * (B) A second handgrip.
    * (C) A shroud that is attached to, or partially or completely encircles, the barrel that allows the bearer to fire the weapon without burning his or her hand, except a slide that encloses the barrel.
    * (D) The capacity to accept a detachable magazine at some location outside of the pistol grip."

    So unless Roberti-Roos gets repealed, there doesn't seem to be a way.

    But I guess your Draco has a fixed mag type setup, otherwise D would apply and you wouldn't be able to have it in the first place, so "detachable mag" does not apply so I'm not sure. Someone else here would know.

      AK pistols require a magazine lock anyways so the evil features don't matter.

      Yes, AOWing a handgun is possible in California, it is all in this post: http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...ad.php?t=82693

        Yes, it is covered in that thread. And yes, people have legally AOW'ed AK-pattern pistols in CA per the info in that thread.

        Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

          Roberti-Roos has nothing to due with "assault weapons" based on features.
