    45 ACP for smaller hands?

Which model 45 ACP would you suggest for someone with small to medium sized hands? A 1911 frame just doesn't feel quite right while an old S&W model 39 (I know it's 9mm) feels like a custom fit for my hand. As a follow-up, where can I try one out in SoCal (LA area)? Thanks

    I'm surprised a 1911 doesn't feel good as it's a single stack. Maybe a SIG P220 which is also a single stack. Or maybe a 1911 w/ slim grips? I shoot a 1911 and have smallish hands.

If you want a gun that will fit small hands in .45, I would say go to the closest gunshop and put the S&W MP.45 in your hands. The gun comes with three different sizes of grips. I have small hands and that gun felt perfect in my hands.

I have small hands and short fingers and either an M&P45 with it's interchangeable backstraps or a 1911 modified for small hands works fine for me. The Kimber below has been modified with slim grips and a short trigger and now fits my hands perfectly.

Have you tried a 1911 with slim grips and a flat mainspring housing? Trigger reach can also be adjusted.

I'd recommend a compact XD, I got small paws and it fits like a dream.

                    1911 with slim grip panels

I would agree with those above who recommend a 1911 with slim grip panels. I have slim Alumagrips on the Kimber below, and the grip width is just slightly over 1 inch. My wife and daughter in law, both of whom have smaller hands than most men, have no trouble holding and firing this gun.

If you can fork out the $ , Nighthawk T3 im sure wouldd be perfect, you can also get an 8 round mag which adds a small extension just in case the officer size grip is too small.

Glock 21SF, Sig P220 w/ slim grips (plastic ~ $20) or the Alum Grips (alloy ~ $180), HK45 w/ small backstrap, or 1911 w/ slim grip panels ( $15 to $100+ depending on material)... if possible, try before you buy

I have a Glock 30 SF and it fits smaller hands. Consider that it packs 10+1 rounds of .45 ACP in such a small size, that is pretty good.

                          Regards,

P220 especially the Carry model or M&P45, also fits very nice. Definitely stay away from any HK of any type or Glock if .45 is what you seek.

Try the Taurus 24/7 Pro. I wear a size Medium glove and it fits me well.
