What is the model number for the FN HP-SA 9mm? I know it's on the CA DOJ list but when Ade from Ade's Gun Shop tried to get me a price he said his supplier said that that gun is not on the list. I looked but couldn't find it. TIA.

What I extract from Cal DOJ approved gun database:
    http://justice.doj.ca.gov/safeguns/safeguns_new.taf?_fu...97A04653C17A43432D8D

    Browning
    Hi-Power Blue Adj Sights / Steel 4.66" 9mm
    Hi-Power Blue Fixed Sights/Steel 4.66" 9mm
    Hi-Power MKIII Fixed Sights/Steel 4.66" .40S&W
    Hi-Power MKIII Fixed Sights/Steel 4.66" 9mm
    Hi-Power Practical Adj Sights/Steel 4.66" 9mm
    Hi-Power Practical Fixed Sights/Stainless Steel,Steel 4.66" .40S&W
    Hi-Power Practical Fixed Sights/Steel 4.66" 9mm
    Hi-Power Silver Chrome Fixed Sights/Steel 4.66" 9mm
    HP Standard / Steel 4.66" .40S&W
    HP Standard Adj. Sights/Steel 4.66" .40S&W
HP Standard Fixed Sights / Steel 4.66" .40S&W

If it ain't one of these specifically, it ain't on the CA approved list.
Check the terminology on the box label and/or gun to see what it matches above.

    As per

the Browning Hi-Power Silver Chrome/Steel w/Adj Sights, in
9mm, was removed from certified list on 7/24/05 (probably
a low-circulation model that wasn't worthy paying CA fees
    to keep approved).

Well, I was interested more in the FN's. This is what I get from the list.

      FNP-9 / Steel, Polymer Pistol 4" 9 mm 11/12/2005
      FN HP-SA / Steel Pistol 4.5" .40 S&W 03/13/2006
      FN HP-SA 40 (Polished Blue) / Steel Pistol 4.5" .40 S&W 11/19/2005
      FN HP-SFS 40 (Polished Blue) / Steel Pistol 4.6" .40 S&W 11/19/2005
      HP-SFS 40 (Matte Black) / Steel Pistol 4.6" .40 S&W 11/12/2005
      FN HP-SA / Steel Pistol 4.66" 9 mm 03/13/2006
      FN 5.7 I.O.M. / Steel, Polymer Pistol 4.8" 5.7x28mm 03/23/2006
      FN 5.7 U.S.G. / Steel, Polymer Pistol 4.8" 5.7x28 mm 04/12/2006

I am interested in the FN HP-SA in 9mm as sold here.

Does anyone have the model number for this?

I think DOJ likes to make matters more difficult on purpose.
I wish that they would add exact model numbers and/or ranges of model numbers.
It would make it a lot easier for everyone. (Unless you and/or your FFL are trying to pull a sly one and slip one kinda fitting the description in)

          I agree.

I just wanted to get the model number so Ade can track the gun more easily. I don't know why his supplier would say it's not on the list when is seems like it is.

I know from the second link posted by bwiese that the FN HP-SFS in 9mm is no longer on the list but is still approved in .40S&w as seen in my post above. But I'm not interested in those two particular models. Only the FN HP-SA.

            The model number is HP-SA.

I ordered my FN HP-SA from Gary at RandGfirearms, the pistol in your link, earlier in the year. No problems with my FFL transfer.

            Hard to argue with $449.

Cool, thanks Jeff. I wasn't sure if there was a model number (as in numerical) or something.

I think I got the link from one of your previous posts on here. Thanks for that!

                Sorry guys I blew it...

I saw HiPower and thought of Browning exclusively, totally forgetting that FN has their own line now!

Apologies. Shoulda thought before I wrote.

The whole model #'s thing is a fiasco. Trying to make heads or tales of it is a PITA.

Bill, FN makes the Hi-Power. Browning is simply a marketing arm of FN.

By the way, the FN's are nice. You'll like it. The newer roll marks are much nicer then when they first started bringing them in a few years ago.
