Glock 21 or SW MP45????

Fellow Calgunners,

This a continuation of my other thread.

Between these two models (Glock 21 od green and SW MP 45 dark earth brown) which do you prefer, and why????

I don't mean this to be brand bashing, but an honest to goodness preference question. See, I used to have 7 1911s from Springfields and Colts. I have whittled them down to 3. Have realized I don't have any polymer piece at the moment. Money is an issue, so it has to be only one polymer for me, and so far these two are the contenders that tickles my fancy.

Feedback please!

same answer you'll see in every thread about handgun #1 vs. handgun #2: go to an indoor range, rent both guns, and shoot them. see which one feels better in your hands and which one you shoot better with

they're both great guns. you cant go wrong with either.

Glock 21, more accessory availability, and a reliable pistol.

Glock 21 All about reliability, not the SW is not reliable I really have no experience with it but my glock and evry glock I have ever seen has been super reliable.

Given just about any choice between a Glock and another pistol, I'd go with Glock, simply because I really like the feel of the action.

I like my M&P 40. If I didnt have a 1911 I'd probably get it in 45

Aside from not knowing your personal preference in handling and how they feel.. my personal opinion would be the Glock for all the mentioned above. Cheaper, accessories, etc. Glocks just seem to me, one of those guns where you really get your value worth and really can't go wrong unless you get a dud (which is rare).

I have shot both extensively, and currently own the m&p45. It is by far a more comfortable pistol to shoot. I was a diehard glock owner, till I bought the s&w. I really feel that S&w perfected the polymer pistol with the M&P series, pointability and handling are perfect, as well as reliability. I have the external safety, though I dont use it, it is there -and not something available on the glock. I like the non polygonal barrel so I dont have to replace the barrel to shoot lead reloads, and the case head seems to be fully supported. Their warranty service is awesome. The only downside is the lack of accessories that are available for the glock.

Really, I need to know everyones preference! That way I would have a " feel " for the piece BEFORE I hit the range. I do appreciate everyones opinions, feedbacks, criticisms.

I had a G21. Sold it.

Now have a S&W M&P45. Love it.

Will be getting other M&P45 variants when they are Rostered.

I own both. The M&P45 has considerably better ergonomics. If you have small hands you will probably like it better than the G21. The M&P is basically a Glock. Remove the slide and you will be stunned by the similarities.

The G21 mags hold 13 rounds which is awesome. The M&P mags only hold 10. You can get 14rd mags for it but they are pretty funky. Both pistols use the same holster.

Both pistols are great. If you get the G21 I would get the SF.

I have a few guns (couple of safes full). I own a g22 and a g35 both heavily modified, I'm trying to get them to fit. I shoot 1911's, yea I'm old, so when I was in the store a couple of days ago and picked up a M&P 45 pointed it, sat it back down on the counter pulled out the credit card and bought it. I don't drive glocks well, I love everything about them (care and feeding, parts, ease in disassembly/assembly, trigger pull to die for etc.) but they just don't point well. That is why I bought the S&W, it just feels and points so nice. Will I shoot the Glocks? Hell yes, will I enjoy it? sure, but I do beleive the M&P will feel so much better.

Really? Good to know. Is this also true of the M&P-9 / G17?

The Glock grip angle is just not comfortable to me. I wanted to like them, but because they are not comfortable, I just can't own one.

Both the XD and M&P were better, with the M&P being super comfortable, and therefore better shooting (for me).
