Glock 3rd gen or maybe 2nd gen mags??

anyone know the reason why some glock mags have that small plate that face the trigger and some don't? the ones with the plates came with my G19 and G21 when i bought them.. the others are spare mags i have bought. when i asked at turners they had no idea what the difference was between them other than the small plates.. i thought maybe the ones with out the plate are older 3rd gen or maybe 2nd gen mags? any thoughts?

The ones with the plate are for ambidextrous mag releases.

They are for use in Glocks with the ambidextrious magazine release.

Currently, there are only four Glock models that use the ambi-magazine release. None of these Glocks are on the approved list and two of the Glocks (17MB & 19MB) are not imported into the USA.

Currently, Glock appears to have abandon the ambi-magazine release in favor of a reversable magazine release design, which is on the Gen4 Glocks.
