Sphinx pistols are really, really nice.

Sphinx had a little table set up at the LWRC booth showing off their 3000 series pistols at SHOT. I had never heard of the company before, but after seeing what kind of work they do, I don't think I'll be forgetting them.

If you're not familiar with the company, I would describe them as the Les Baer of CZ pistols. They CNC machine their parts and it fits and works like, well, a Swiss watch (it's a Swiss company, after all).

Also awesome, they're in talks with LWRC about becoming the NA distributor, so hopefully we should be seeing more of these in the near future. The nice lady and gentleman there said that no matter what they hope to have a distributor set up by the end of the show.

Here's the website. It's in German, but if you click around you'll find some good pics and info.

Then another horse PONY came out, a fiery red one. Its rider was given power to take peace from the earth and to make men slay each other. To him was given a huge sword. My kinda guy.

    Nice but it's a 9mm. I like .45's.

Thieves are the lowest form of life out there, except for liberal politicians, of course, but that's redundant.

I do believe there are .45 versions as well.

Yup. They are generally considered as the high-end of CZ platform. Of course another off the roster item....ugh...I think about 2 years ago they were right next to Sabre defense booth.

they been around for quite a while. back when we couldn't import the CZ, Tanfoglio in Italy made copies for import. the Sphinx is the Swiss built clone of that pistol.

it's like the relationship of the Sig 556 to the AK, by way of the Valmet and Galil

Yes they have been around for some time although they are obscure. i had a canadian neighbor who had one and wanted to sell it but changed his mind last minute. The les baer of the CZ design is an accurate description.

                Looks like they're only made in 9mm, 9X21mm & 40 S&W.

I believe some of the earlier Model 2000s had some reliability issues but they were later resolved.

I stand corrected, the "Hicap Version" comes in .45.
