    Sig Equinox - Thoughts?

I'm curious what people's general thoughts are on this Sig finish. I kind of like the way it looks, but I'm not sure it's worth another $200, and some have said that the grips are a bit too slippery. Any experience/knowledge about the durability of the finish compared to the standard black model? I'm not usually one to pay for form when it doesn't contribute to function, but it's kind of tempting... It would be especially cool to get a "matching" Kimber Eclipse to go with the Equinox.

Really though, what I want most of all is a Sig Elite, but California doesn't want anyone to enjoy life...

A nice pic of the Equinox that I found for reference:

Here's a picture of the finish in question, because, well... people like pictures!

I'm personally not a fan of the way it looks, but that's just my opinion!

The equinox comes with Trijicon night sights standard. That's already a $150 value plus shipping $50 is about $200 if you were to get them installed. You're not just getting different grips/looks. You actually get something you can use.

Personally would not pay for additional finishes that does not have functional purposes. But many would pay high dollars for fashion (not just guns). It's really what the fashion is worth to the buyer.

In this case, the price difference includes night sights. That makes the price of fashion pretty low assuming the night sights are wanted and appreciated. I'd say go for it because it certainly sounds like you value the unique appearance.

I love the way the EQ looks. That being said - other than the sight, the Eq with Hogue's shoots the same as my standard with hogues.

awe, bigchris, you covered up the nice fancy handle with a hogue grip!

thats the main reason I'm not getting the equinox, i love the sig p229 with the hogue grip, which covers up one of the most fashionable parts of the gun, the wood grain grip. i'm just going for the plain jane one with night sights i think

There was a few reasons I changed the grips, main reason was I didnt want the grips getting messed up at all, and other reason was those grips are very wide and it was just a little to wide for my wifes hands.

I personally do like the contrast of the EQ and with the subtraction of the N/S, it's not too steep (IMHO). The grips are HUGE on the EQ & Elites, just FYI.

NOW, this picture of the P220 Elite with the EQ finish with matching controls.... ... Might have to call Todd and find out the cost of that finish.

I prefer older german P220'S so the equinox doesnt appeal to me but hey its a sig so either way you are GTG.

+3 = also added the hogue grips. I have big hands and its a perfect fit.

I love the way this gun shoots. Its on par with my wilson

I have a P220 Equinox and love it, though it's treated a bit like a safe queen. I liked the grips so much I bought a set for my P226RSS.

The grips and the fibre-optic plus tritium sights are really worth the $200 difference, if it's what you want.

I like all my Equinox's but I like my Platinum series better.
