    Sacramento HSC

I tried doing a search but couldn't really find anything that answers both my questions. First question is, who in the Sacramento area offers a HSC? I was looking at liberty firearms near Sacramento but their website looks like you have to sign up for their NRA pistol handling class to be eligible to take their HSC. Is that standard or are they just trying to make a few bucks?

Is there somewhere in/near Sacramento that I can go, ask to take the HSC, have them hand me the test, I turn it in, pay the money and thats it? Thanks

You shouldn't have to take the NRA class... you should be able to just pay your $25, take the test, and you're done. Just call around to the gun shops. They might not like the idea of just administering the test if you're not going to buy a gun though... but they should allow you to do it.

Use Just Guns at the corner of Watt and Auburn.

Perfect! Thank you Dangerpin. I just purchased an 870 from them and they were great, didn't know I could go through them

No problem, they are good. They had me in and out in about 15 minutes.

I haven't bothered to check out the HSC scene. I'm exempt unless there's a change in the law. Sorry if I'm not entirely helpful for ya. The one time I stopped in at Just Guns, they did seem to be pretty helpful though!

Should I ever decide to get an HSC, it'll be from Just Guns... just because of the friendly service I got and the good reports I've read here.

                    Just Guns +1

The shop in Orangevale refused to let my wife take the test since she had not studied prior to arrival at their shop. (what was she thinking) Their loss. So a quick trip to Just Guns on Auburn and Watt. They gave her the test and she passed with only missing one question. When you live in firearm friendly home like mine there is no need to study for the stupid HSC test.

Anyway my wife now knows which store to go to at Fathers day, Valentines day, Birthday, Easter, Christmas.
Remember... You do get what you pay for. While Just guns is new and slightly higher priced then some others, service has always been good.

In Sac, you can also get your HSC from River City Guns or Broadway Bait Rod & Gun
