If you're serious and not just jerking our colective chains,you have to realize
that heavy recoil,massive fireball may impress novices,but do not contribute to accuracy and you can't miss fast enough to be effective! If you really want a handgun for home defense and target shooting, your best bet is a 1911 chambered in .45 ACP. If you want th add hunting to it get a double action revolver in .44 Mag. Use .44 Specials in it for all but hunting. As to the quick reload, if the intruder is armed and you don't get him in six rounds, you're dead! But there is such a thing as speed loaders. A .357 revolver will also work well.

I don't think anybody in their right mind would use a 50 cal Desert Eagle as a home defense weapon. I bought my Desert Eagle for one purpose, and one purpose only, to have fun with.

For home defense, I rely on my Sig P226 .40s&w, Ruger GP100 .357 and a Mossberg 500.

I love my DE .50 and I also have rings and a scope for hunting. The gun is plenty practical.

Same, but the .44 Magnum round is plenty practical and I imagine the .50AE is too.

But I'll never have a really practical use for it. Although I have often considered carrying it as a sidearm if I ever go hunting. That's a HUGE if by the way.
