    Pistol and Flashlight tactics?

    Hey everyone,

Im looking for info/techniques on shooting a handgun while holding a flashlight. I tried the search function but no luck. Anyone have any links, books, videos, etc? I have a CZ75B that I love and some good streamlight flashlights. So I dont want to spend any more money to buy a gun that can accept a weapon mounted light. But I want to start doing some night shoots and for home defense.

Thanks in advance and by the way I'm left handed.

I think Magpul Dynamics is coming out with a video on the Art of the Tactical Pistol, which I'm thinking will cover flashlight use. There was a thread about it here recently and pre-orders being done. The good news is being a lefty really doesn't change anything whether you use the light on the strong side, weak side of the gun, or my favorite the "syringe" method (which allows you to hold the gun with the second hand similar to a standard grip). I bought a Surefire Z2 because of the rubber stopper for this reason. You can easily add a couple O-rings to any light to get the same effect.

If you are really into flashlight use, consider going to the Surefire Training Institute in Corona. You are just a stone's throw away from a place that specializes in teaching low light pistol/light use. I have never been there but heard good things about it.

I know the link was posted before, but I like it a lot - the trailer on You Tube that is, from 1:04 to 1:14. I wonder if she's a private body guard?

        This is pretty good read

It's based on author's experience. Has lots of pics on holding techniques, etc.

I've been taught the Harries Method (also called by another name I forget) at a couple different training centers for Tac Handgun classes:

Grip the flashlight in your off hand.
Bend your elbow so your forearm is horizontal in front of you, palm down.
Place your shooting hand wrist on top of your off hand wrist.
Bend your off hand wrist upwards, depress end cap style flashlight and you're there.

I find it helps give a more stable platform than other options.
